Texas post-hardcore rockers At the Drive-In have posted a cryptic tweet that all but announces that they will be reuniting for the first time in 11 years. "¡ ATTENTION ! To whom it may concern: AT THE DRIVE-IN will be breaking their 11 year silence THIS STATION IS …NOW…OPERATIONAL," the band wrote in a tweet earlier this afternoon.

Members of the band have been hinting a possible reunion for a few years now. "We've been making amends with a lot of the members and having some really good talks with them," frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala told Drowned in Sound in 2009. "We just have to iron out a lot of personal things. A lot of it we've dealt with already and I've apologized for a lot of things I've said and the way it ended. We'll see what happens."

At the Drive-In broke up in 2001 when Bixler-Zavala felt the band was holding him back creatively. He and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez went on to form The Mars Volta, while the remaining three members of the group formed the band Sparta. Bassist Paul Hinojos, who co-founded Sparta, left that group to join The Mars Volta between 2005 and 2009.

I've never heard of this band or anything so it seems like BMTM material. Moved there.

As awesome as this is, I agree with guild, this isn't that newsworthy on the temp
Silly tempers, being exclusively gaming
I for one will probably buy tickets to California and to Coachella to see them play as both The Mars Volta and ATDI.

Meh...think that they've missed the boat really. Maybe if they'd reformed a few years ago they might have had a full resurgence but i just don't think that stylistically they're that interesting any more.

Rather have Refused back personally...

Uhm.....

Refused are coming back WITH At the Drive-In.
And ATDI being the top 4th trending topic on Twitter? Yup, totally a wrong time to announce a reunion

The most shocking thing I took from this news: There is a genre called "Post Hardcore".

Does that mean they were once hardcore, but have since mellowed out considerably?

Not exactly...
There's TONS of "post" genres that devolve elements from the genres it mentions. There's post-rock, post-hardcore, post-metal, post-punk, etc.
"Post" implies that the genre derives elements from the origin, bringing newer and often progressive musical properties to the subgenre.
Post hardcore simply means that elements that are not from the hardcore genre are brought to it and fused.
At the Drive-In was one of the most successful and popular post hardcore bands out there. Big fuzzes has been made in many places over this. ;)
