So I read a bit more of the thread, and apparently 10 min videos are the max that can be done? So downloaded v1.3 and tried to create a 120sec test video with the source as a 6 minute .mp4. It just hangs at a little over 50%. What am I doing wrong?
This is the point where the final moviefile gets split into 10 minute-files (so 10 min videos are not the max ;) ) and the program tries to put them on your destination folder.
Maybe your sd card isnt connected or the folder doesn't exist anymore. Or maybe your sd card is full. Pls prove that.
If this conversion was the last one you've tried, there must be a psize.txt in your windows temp folder. pls post this textfile here.

Maybe it's better for you to use a destination folder on your harddrive and manually transfer it on your sd card later on.

I just did this and it took about 30 seconds. Right on.

I have to watch this on the 'Nintendo 3DS Camera', right? Is there a reason it says it was taken on 1/1/1900?

It actually inched along, VERY SLOWLY. Funnily enough, it finished just as I was typing this response. And I started it about an hour ago. Should it take an hour for such a small file?
No that shouldn't take so long. Can't say what's the reason but i think it has nothing to do with the program. Maybe it's better for you to use a destination folder on your harddrive and manually transfer it on your sd card later on.

It automatically splits into 10 minute files? Awesome.
Yes it does^^ All credit goes to SifJar :D

Can someone help me, I'm trying to convert a 27 gig video and it manages to finish the left.avi and right.avi but 3ds video freezes on me and doesn't finish merging/spliting. Is there a way I can merge these without starting the whole thing over again (takes like 10 hours on my shitty old computer)
I converted many movies of that size without problems. If you didnt convert anything else after that file, there must be a psize.txt in your windows temp folder. Please upload it to mediafire.com and post the link here.

Otherwise this program can help you out:
http://www.mediafire...j6c87y3dddafi76
Just copy left.avi & right.avi into the "Copy_left.avi_& _right.avi_into_this_folder"-folder and double click on the start_me.exe.
A DOS-window will pop up to inform you about the conversion-progress.
Thank you for your help, but the results turn out not 3D.

Another quick question:

I tried to convert another video and got a prompt saying the chosen video bitrate was greater than the source bitrate. So I went to advanced and set the frame rate and bit rate to the exact same as the source file. Everything worked, but when I watched it, the video quality is horrible. What can I do to fix this?

Thx for the info. Usually this prompt shouldn't show up in simple mode. Just restart the app and it should work without any notification.
In the meantime I'm trying to find the mistake.

I think I figured it out. My source video was 824kbps for bit rate. When I used 824kbps in the software, the quality was pretty shitty. So I set it up to about 2000. Much better. I just think it's strange that using the same bit rate turns it into such bad quality.

The frame rate was 23.98fps. When I set the frame rate in the software to 24, I get the prompt. 23 seems to work fine.

Thanks for all the help.

I have a question that might have already been answered but I really can`t go through the whole thread so:

I`ve converted a movie and it appears it sends the two pictures to the wrong eyes (what should be inside the screen comes out and vise versa). Is there anything I can do about it. It takes to long to convert so I don`t want to start experimenting... Thanks in advance ;)

yeah just do mirror input video. happens all the time. depends on the video file. thats why the test file is a good idea, a lot of times videos that are not hollywood movies, and even some that are but especially gameplay videos and stuff you find on youtube, they have a tendency to be backwards.

i must admit though, i have noticed the 3DS is great for telling how "3D" something is. so to speak, comparably to another movie or video that is. since you can see the edge of the screen more, it does really help to see how well it works. i couldnt believe how many movies really did not have that great of 3D compared to stuff that you wouldnt expect, or i didnt. like that resident evil movie, surprisingly had some real good parts for 3D. just a thought, sorry for rambling just though i should share.

somebody should note that dictating the bitrate DOES NOT mean the final output uses that bitrate, but instead each channel uses that, and then both channel's bitrates are ADDED UP to comprise the final output's bitrates.

If you put in 4000Kbps, the converter will encode the left channel at 4000Kbps video (+128Kbps for audio, so that makes 4128Kbps), and then the right channel at 4000Kbps, and then mux them together for 8000Kbps bitrate.

easily double your source file size (if the source file size is also using 4000Kbps bitrate). my 4GB source file became 9GB (that's the temp file, not yet split). insanely crazy, so better keep it in mind. it's usually reasonable to put in around 2000Kbps (or half of source bitrate) which adds up to 4000Kbps bitrate, which plays quite nicely (depending on the class of your microSD, could be smoother or choppier) and outputs at least around the same file size as the source.

EDIT: I'm gonna start renaming my conversions into this NNN_####, where NNN is any letter combination (acronym or first three letter) of the movie, and #### is basically the bitrate in thousands with the last two digits as the sequence. hence, AVA_6001, AVA_6002, AVA_6003 means it's the first 30 minutes of Avatar 3D encoded in 6000Kb/s. This way, I can sort of keep track of which are my budget conversions and which are my HQ ones.

I'm trying avatar 3d and it seems no matter what I select the 3d video overlays each side of the movie as if it was split in two images.. so if i close my left eye i see one side of the scene and vice versa.. it's nauseating and I can't seem to fix this.. is it the way the movie was encoded or something? I will try some other videos..

edit.. I think it's using the red/blue effect for 3d.. that is probably why.. my bad

Can someone tell me the type of 3d video the source has to be prior to converting it with this software please?

the video you are trying to encode is a 2D one. Make sure you select 2D for the output options.

For a 3D video to work it must look like

mgmtb.jpg

or

mgmsbsn.jpg

before converting.
