Apple Is there a way to add memory?

I have an iPod Touch 8gb that I got for Christmas. I asked my mom for a 32gb, but she said that it was too much memory that I wouldn't use (Even though I have about 15gb of music...) So I got an 8gb. I was wondering if I could solder a usb flash card to the hard drive, or replace the 8gb hard drive with one from another iPod, of if there was an external solution (ie, a case with a slot built in, etc.) that I haven't found.

Haha cool mom... anyway, like nando said, sell it. I would suggest something other than an iPod Touch if you don't really care about the silly little apps. I've had a Creative Zen Vision: M for years now and it works great. It also has a hard drive so if you find you don't have enough space you can replace the hard drive.

Personally I think you, nor anyone really needs their entire music collections in their pocket. If the purpose of the ipod is just music, then the 8GB you have is plenty, especially for apple format files.

Though it may be possible to take iPod back and upgrade to a 32GB. Also Samsung has a new mp3 player thats like how the ipod touch is to iphone, except it runs android... and I know that it does accept microSD cards as externals.

If your iPod has blutooth, and you can't trade up to a 32GB, then try looking for portable/pocket harddrives that support Blutooth. But of course, this is assuming that a Bluetooth Pocket Sized Storage Device that can run off it's own batteries even exists in the 1st place. I know that I haven't heard of or seen one before... its just an idea for a device that I assume is a thing by now. If not... then I should try to patent it so that I can sue the 1st company that develops one, accusing that it stole the idea from me.

Any cloud-like storage system is only useful on smart phones unless you know specific areas you visit frequently that offer up free wifi. I mean if you can't even access cloud outside-home, then why even use it?

All iPods have Bluetooth but no real way of using it properly. Its a bit stupid really. Possibly a jailbreak app exists to do this but it wouldn't happen on a stock iPod, Apple just wouldn't allow it.

Aren't 8GB a iPods a lot cheaper than the 32GB model? lol.. Just be happy you got anything at all, but Apple products in general suck, and are overpriced. What's the issue with switching music out on the iPod, are you seriously going to be able to listen to 15GB of music while you're out and about? (The answer is no)

Sell your ipod touch, buy a broken ipod classic from ebay, do the ipod cf card mod and buy a 32gb cf card to go with it. I did.

8GB iPods are £170 and 32GB iPods are £250 (running off RRP prices, cheaper prices do exist). £80 for quadruple the memory.

I have a 32GB iPod and I do use a lot of memory on it though tis mainly just because I can. an 8GB iPod was never going to be big enough for me to fulfill my video/app habit. I do agree that he should be happy with getting an iPod for free even if it wasn't quite what he wanted.

And PK the Bluetooth does connect to non-Apple device but there's nothing in iOS that would facilitates connecting to any device and apps have to do that themselves. Apple don't let you do any kind of Bluetooth file transfer (annoyingly). There is a Jailbreak app called Celeste which allows that but it hasn't been updated since 4.2 and has been broken for quite a while.

Try it, download and install it to test, of course you need to keep the settings to default.

As if the glorious iPod was capable of generating god knows how high quality sound. It's not a stereo y'know, it's just a portable mp3/mp4 player. That, and the stock headphones are bad anyways. I say, compress. 8GB is plenty.

Try it, download and install it to test, of course you need to keep the settings to default.

It lessened the quality of the music, it's not a matter of opinion, it's fact. It is possible that your hearing and headphones aren't good enough to tell the difference.

That's the problem with Apple's mobile devices, in my opinion. They're just too restricted by nature. Not being able to use any kind of memory card or Bluetooth storage device is an example of this.
