It has an ARM Cortex A9 CPU and Mali 400. And it costs $150? This is almost too good to be true.

Well then that is quite a beast as far as hardware is concerned. Too bad that the OS will be so "stupid add-ons"-heavy that most of the resources will be drained anyways.
In a perfect world, it would be running stock Honeycomb, just with their retrofitted emulators.

You can do all that stuff apart from the ability to use physical buttons on most new android phones/tablets with the correct apps anyway. Combining the apps with a http://www.zeemote.com/ gets past that as well. I can play all that stuff on my SGS2.

All they have done is make it desirable to the gaming geeks. Dont think it will ever see the light of day outside China, to many legal issues.

The concept of a legit pure Android gaming device with hardware buttons and access to the apps marketplace would be very cool.

You think it wont get imported to all countries and you be crazy. No one can sue a chinese company so its a go.

What is it with the "Oh nooo, Chinese Rip-Off, not worth the news 'cus it's made by the Chinese, urr!" ? Most of your electronics are made by the Chinese, even the name-brands, they go through the same development process, they just don't have a nametag that's worth 90% of the final price.

This particular one is dedicated for gaming and is worth as much attention as any other gaming device.

I agree completely! Most people who dis Chinese tablets are the type who most likely have never owned one. Seriously people, most Chinese tablets work really well when.... drumroll please.... YOU TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM! Seriously, that's what it boils down to. Sadly most people dont know how to take care of their electronics these days.

Can we link to this? On YouTube, No ads. But still- you'll need to mute your speakers

It plays Bon Jovi. Automatically it earns points.

"Most new Android phones and tablets" don't have an ARM Cortex-A9 Dual Core CPU and a MALI-400 GPU. Or buttons. Or what appears to be an analog slider. This is quality gaming-oriented hardware, mister.

It will see the light of day easily, exactly because it's made in China and nobody cares.

The concept of a legit Android gaming device has been fulfilled by the Xperia Play sometime ago.

I'm quite amazed by the capacity to put quality hardware into cheap devices the Chinese posess. If this had "Sony Ericsson" or "HTC" or "Samsung" slapped on it, it would sell better than a cure for Death.

If it's popular, there is a good chance there will be a root for it etc. and the crap could get stripped away. In fact, it runs Android 2.2, so exploits such as zergRush or something probably already work with it out of the box. Once rooted, uninstall the shovelware, and install a replacement launcher.

I see what you did there. Well, if that's the case then I suppose nothing stands in the way of getting this thingamajig if it turns out it's "not too shabby".

Looks nice, in my opinion.
A lower price tag would be perfect though.

Hardware of comparable processing power comming from "bigger" companies costs twice as much if not more.

Not really sure what you mean by that...from my reading, it seems you thought I was making some sort of joke? Perhaps I misunderstood your post...
What I meant was "Don't like the shovelware? Remove the shovelware!" attitude, which I like and agree with. There's nothing worse then those custom chinese apps.

Ah, OK. Just thought you were reading something in my post I didn't purposefully put there :P

I do welcome this tablet with open arms, only because the Xperia PLAY can only function on specific carriers. Plus for the dual core support, it just screams 'buy me'! The only downside is the battery life since five hours shows lack of power consumption. Then again dual core processors does take a lot of juice to run them.

This looks like it could be worth my money...esp. since I want a tablet to replace my netbook when I get me a full sized laptop, but I'll wait for reviews to see if its really any good....looks can be deceiving and I dont have $140 to throw away
