I have an original Wiikey using v1.9s firmware.& it has it's own settings which I set with the config disc ages ago.

Now on the other hand I have Neogamma Loader Channel [standalone channel -autoboot by XFLAK]. & well if you
choose the channel, than hit "Start" without loading a disc you'll be able to see the Neogamma options. Which include
region options, config options, rebooter options, use rebooter, credits, etc. I didn't even know you could see any of
these settings if you hit "start" without a disc in the console until now.

I wanted to know if I change any of the Neogamma settings will it alter my Wiikey in anyway? Or will it harm my system being
that the Wiikey is set to be working with specific option settings? I want to fool around with Neogamma just to see what it can
do for me. But I don't want to do so if it'll harm my system by playing with it's settings vs the Wiikey settings I don't want to change.

I'm on Wii 3.2U system menu.

Thanks

Neogamma settings will not interfere with your modchip. But note that in order for you to save\load custom settings you will need an sd card (or fat32 hdd) plugged into the Wii.

Also, if you read the neogamma autoboot thread closely (http://gbatemp.net/topic/205141-neogamma-auto-boot-mod/) you'll notice you can access the settings menu even if a game is in the Wii

To access the menu, hit any button while your trying to load a game
(you may need to tap it a few times until you get the timing right)

Btw, backup disc loading is ancient history, you should consider setting up a usb-loader (ModMii from my signature can help u do that if you want)

edit: IIRC, updates to neogamma beyond v8 only added better gamecube backup disc support. And no one has created an "auto-boot mod" of the latest beta, so it's a trade off. That being said, if you're only loading Wii backup discs and not gamecube discs, then my neogamma autoboot mod will work just fine.

Lol, so anything from like 2 years back is ancient history?

NeoGamma doesn't support to save the config to HDD. Well except in Sneek+DI/Uneek+DI mode, then it will save on nand, which is the HDD in case of Uneek+DI.

The modchip will interfere with NeoGamma + cIOS, if it can't fix the 001 error, because the 001 error solution from the cIOS doesn't work with crappy modchips. I don't know if your chip is one of the crappy ones.

Other than that, the region free features of modchips are garbage compared to NeoGamma's region free features. Well at least from what i have seen. Correct me if i'm wrong, but no modchip applies video mode patches, language patches or Country String patching. Only Sneek's latest versions(r186+) have a superior region free feature which virtually changes the Wii's region according to the game's region.

Well the reason I started this thread is really because I'm trying to run "Fatal Frame IV English Translation," and for the first time ever having a problem with a Wii game
playing in my console.

This is the issue no one seems to be replying to in another thread:

POST SOURCE

But here's the same problem below in case you don't want to visit the post source, which is the same thing.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, so I did all the procedures, but once I got my backup into the DVD slot, and load it. I get a black screen reading "An error has occurred please press the eject button and remove the disk. Turn the wii console off and refer to the manual."

I'm getting the same problem, and have searched the entire net to no avail. Can someone please help us?

I'm on a 3.2U Wii that has an original Wiikey installed using firmware version 1.9s. I also have cIOS38rev17 installed, and a custom version of NeoGamma R8 RC3 [standalone Wii menu loader channel/which is based off the original Neogamma].

All of the iOS files on the disc, are already on my Wii. I've checked that to make sure with "AnyTitle Deleter Mod v5." I may have an older version of the specific iOS the game uses installed on my console... But I'm not sure about that because I've been hard pressed to find any information about the exact iOS this game uses anyways. "BrickBlocker" was applied before playing too [obviously since I'm on 3.2U, and don't want to upgrade my system menu]. This is the first time this has ever happened to me with any game. & yes the Region Override settings are set to "On" for my Wiikey.

Someone help!!! This is a masterpiece I must experience!!!

:(

Thank You

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If someone can help me out with the issue I'm really having please do post back. I'm trying to see if switching Neogamma to a different region language setting will work.
Since the game is really spoken in Japanese even though the text was translated. I'm going to try that tonight... I hope it works.

I just got in my hands today a DMS DVD chip + an original wiikey 1. I just finished a moment ago updating the wiikey to 1.99beta, it'll enable 6X DVD reading (lousier drive yay! much like using an original Wii DVD disc).

Softmod (if through Disc Loading) will limit your drive at 3X (which I had been for ages) which will make some games/videos stutter. As for compatibility stick with Riivolution Patcher (I believe Fatal Frame IV has a patch to work under riivolution), use d2xrev6@ios 249 base56ios, and enable through priiloader (0.7) region free hacks, region free WII games & Region Free GC games.

Update your modchip.!

Region free hacks tend to cause system instability, and he doesn't need region patches anyway since he isn't on 4.2/4.3. Modchips don't use cIOS's either. If he has a burned copy of the game, he isn't using Riivolution. There is a version on the internet with the patch built in.

Forgot to add, a cios was required for backups through Neogamma, my mistake. As for region free I have yet to have a freeze or something with this hack enabled.

And stick with the riivolution patch for fatal frame IV (it works fine if you run the backup + modchip) and hacks will be loaded from SD.

As far as i know Riivolution has some code to detect modchips, and if does, it does not boot the game. There's almost no possiblity to detect a good modchip, but those, which can't even get rid of 001 properly, are easily detectable.

Perhaps the latest Wiikey 1 1.99beta update fixes this issue? I'll go test SMG2 right now..

I have yet to figure out why it affects some people, but it doesn't for others. Maybe the hacks are different or something. For a lot of people it causes freezing, lag, and/or random squeaking noises.

It's supposed to.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 required an update if block updates from modchip was enabled. Priiloader's block disc updates let SMG2 run fine, at 6x yay! about 30mins of gameplay without a freeze, or a #00x screen.

Setup:
Disc Channel on 4.3U
Wiikey 1 update 1.99beta
Config: 6x DVD drive, audiostreaming enabled (for GC games), region freed by modchip (from old to newest games, such kirby's return to dreamland) & priiloader block disc updates.
