I updated my r4i gold 3ds flash cart to 1.41 wood, then I did the new 3ds system update. After the update I checked my cart, but it says error. I thought the r4i 3ds flash cart was confirmed working on the new update. Any ways, if a new r4i update is released, how can I upgrade the cart without a ds, ds lite, or dsi.

You can't, the "new update" was like the....launch firmware of the 3DS I think. Time to buy a new card. Might I suggest a card with decent official or community-driven support?

even if there were you would still need a frimware writer. not like nintendo is gonna let a bunch of computer companies put ds sockets in them. or the computer makers would even WANT to put in a ds socket
as a side note frimware writes don't need software in the frist place. it just gives power to the cart and also runs the update file and updates it for you

If you can borrow a DS that your R4 still works on, like a DS/DSLite or a DSi/3DS that hasn't been upgraded, you should be able to run the R4i Gold 3DS 2.2 update file. It should then work on 3.0.0-5, as well.

did you read the post s/he made? it says " without access to a dslite or dsi"
TheCasketMan's only option is to borrow a system the flashcart still works on, update to get it to work on 3DS 3.0.0-5, and from now on always update the flashcart before updating the 3DS.

If you have about 100 bucks, you could always buy a used ds lite from gamestop, update your card, go back to gamestop and say that you regret purchasing it and get a refund.

Even better, just ask if you can use an old display model or something. At toys r us, it's possible to remove the demo cart. The local gamestop actually helped me fix this problem.

this dude from this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH9y50qn4Yg uploaded his core files of his r4i with the updated firmware, and people in the comments said it work, but the download link is now down. I just wanted to know if any1 in this forum knew how to upload the r4i files with the newest firmware, so that I could put them in my r4i, without buying a ds lite or asking for a display model in gamestop.

just having the file on your r4i isnt enough, you need to run it as a .nds file in a ds lite or newer ds with lower firmware. literally your only hope is to borrow a friends ds lite/ dsi or scam a gamestop/toys R us

no one has a ds in my school or neighborhood and if they had one there would be a 99.99% chance they are not going to let me borrow it. I don't have a hundred bucks to buy a ds lite and do the gamestop trick right now. are you sure there is not a way to manually update it, with a code, trick, etc. im sorry for being annoying, but it is a shame to throw my r4i in the trash :(
