I'll be getting an Acekard 2i in the next few days, and I had some questions.

1. What is the best firmware to use for game compatibility?

2. How well do emulators like SnemulDS or Lameboy DS run on an Acekard 2i?

And most importantly:

3. Is game compatibility better than my crappy old DSTT that stopped working?

Thanks in advance.

AKAIO is the brst firmware for AceKard 2i (even recommended on the official AceKard 2i website).

I don't use emulators so can't comment on their functionality.

Game compatibility is WAY better than your DSTT. This is the main reason I choose the AK2i and future compatibility is ensured by Normatt and the AKAIO team.

Basically it is AKAIO that makes the AK2i the great card that it is. The fact that the core is upgradable and there are good people supporting it make it the best value flashcart I I currently available.

All right, that's awesome. Last thing I want is a flashcart I have to replace in a few months because it no longer wants to play games.

This will make an awesome little card until I get enough money for a DSTWO.

I haven't tried lameboy, SnemulDS was alright but I'm a little fussy and I didn't think my son would get the idea of using it much but there's one called 'jEnesisDS' I highly rate it and I put about 8 games on it, all save well and my son found it very easy to use. (in fact he was able to change the game without knowing what to do or read really)

Save your money and buy the R4i Gold 3DS made by the r4ids.cn team. Lightake has them for $10.79 shipped anywhere. This card is awesome. It has the same compatibility as the acekard 2i but it has WAY better build quality. The acekard 2i is not built to last and it has contact issues. Look up TkSaturn paper trick on google to see what I'm talking about. The aK team, who has nothing to do with AKAIO, is slow in their boot loader updates. I won't argue here with anyone, just check the history on the acekard.com site. Look at the official release dates for Nintendo's firmware updates and look at the date the aK team made the card compatible with said firmware, and compare them. AKAIO is the sh*t--Normatt and Smiths do great work, but the aK team, not so much. The R4i Gold 3DS has everything going for it: Wood firmware, fast boot loader updates, great homebrew compatibility, and a very economical price. I guess you know where my heart resides. R4i Gold 3DS (www.r4ids.cn) FTW :D

Oh and this quote here "crappy old DSTT." No such thing with RetroGameFan's kernel. Retro kernel has 99.95% game compatibility and he even tells you how to get the games that don't work in their raw state to work and supplies you with the program to decrypt every kernel update. I just love Retro's work. :D

Oh, I used RGF's firmware constantly. But I often had to put in that extra bit of work just to get patched games to function, even with it.

I'd prefer something less fussy. And I'm familiar with paper tricks, I'll be fine.

1 - AKAIO's the firmware to use.

2 - They run as well as they do on other normal flash carts.

3 - Presumably, yeah.

Nice to get some straightforward answers. :P

I was asking because SnemulDS runs HORRIBLY on a TT, and I was hoping the Acekard could run it better.

I have a PSP, but getting a Pandora battery for it to run homebrew would cost almost as much as getting a DSTWO...
