I think we can all agree on one thing.
NERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD

Ever heard of Speedrunners/ TASers?

edit: I don't think I'll beat you OP.
Might give it a try.
People who don't have anything else to do and just beat all their games over and over again, sometimes with cheats?
Really, it doesn't sound very fun to me.

Speedrunning and TASing doesn't use cheats.

In actuality, a TAS may involve beating the game only once, if it's even complete.

TAS is cheating, its Tool Assisted Speedrun. Slowing down a game or using save states counts as cheating because you aren't doing a true speedrun. Sure TAS requires a little bit of skill but its nothing truly special compared to a true speedrun where nothing is used and the game is played the way it was meant to be.

Seriously, shut up and get your facts straight.

I bet you couldn't do it even if you tried. You couldn't even get the 5th lowest time.

inb4 the obligatory "Why would I wanna do that?/I've got better things to do" cop-out.

For some it does and it's fun to watch to.
Also you can't cheat on a 3DS YET

TAS is indeed cheating due to the use of emulators and savestates/glitches etc.
None the less it still its very impressive.

Wth are you talking about, what 5th lowest time? Of what game? All im saying is TAS isn't truly impressive. Now what the OP did is because he didn't cheat.

What does TASing even have to do with any of this? Clearly it's not a TAS, as the 3DS doesn't have any cheats or emulators yet. It's really not hard to do when you know what to do, and where the "trick" points are.

@cris92x: TASes can be impressive, depending on what part of the emulator they use for the "tool assisting". The majority of the time, it's people slowing down the game to allow them to press button sequences very fast, and even so, it still takes skill to pull off.

TASing isn't meant to be about human playing skill. It's not about the person playing the game.

It's about the game, and how fast it can be beaten on a technical level.

Awesome time! I wish you had a recording of the actual run.

Also Speedrunning is awesome. Super Metroid is still being mastered today!

I would like to see you doing it, not just showing your time.
I really don't want to reveal how I did it, but it's not that hard to figure out. Not to mention it would be hard to play and either hold my iPod, or find some way to have it still without having to hold it.

I don't think much of it is some giant secret. I got 42 seconds by just long-jumping and shortcut taking. Although that 20 seconds faster than mine is impressive, I don't think the video would kill anyone. What's the WR on 1-1?
