Hardware Wiimotes will not sync

I just powered up my Wii, and to my surprise, none of the controllers are connecting. I've tried replacing the batteries, syncing the remotes, and unplugging and plugging in the Wii to power to sync the remotes again, and they still WILL NOT connect to the Wii. Is there anything else that I can do to the Wiimotes or Wii that will help them connect?

Ok, after trying to sync the Wiimote for hours, it still does not work. Is there anything I can do?

Have you tried changing the batteries?

Can you turn on and off the Wii with the remote? If not, your bluetooth module is probably busted.
