Hi guys,

I've just picked up the following card from http://www.extra-car...sl-ds-p-87.html

dscf4768i.jpg

I've purchased it for a friend who will be using it in their DSi XL once i've set it up for them. However, I will be setting it up and testing it on my DS Lite, which I assume shouldn't be an issue as my understanding (and by what it states on the box) it's backwards compatible.

Now on to the problems.

The website on the box is http://www.r4-pro.com, which I visit and then from the download page I select the "WOOD R4i DS firmware and download it.

The instructions on the site tell me to Copy the files named "_DS_MENU.DA","_DS_MSHL.NDS" and "_DS_MENU.INI", the folder "_system_" and "_system_" to your microSD card. (Japanese to English translation lol)

The problem being, once extracted, these are the only files in the folder..

I assume this is the correct procedure just not the correct files are available.

I've serched all over the place and tried numerous configs to get this working and all have drawn a blank and left me with the dreaded "LOADING" screen every time.

Can someone please let me know what i'm doing wrong.

Many thanks in advance!

The first thing you've done wrong is buy a crappy fake cart that can't even run the latest version of wood.

However you should have _rpg folder and _DS_MENU.DAT and WOODR4.nds. Try going to www.r4ids.cn and downloading their version of Wood and it's possible that that version might work (and it's the latest version of Wood).

However the most likely problem is the cart itself.

Also try formatting the SDHC cart with Panasonic formatter as well see if that works.

If you had spent £1.50 more you would have bought a cart that has real Wood support on that site. Proof that cheaper does not equal better. However most of the carts on that site are fake.

Complete noob mistake there.

I will give the formatting a go and try re-installing wood.

Failing that i'm gonna have to pick up a new cart.

I'm looking at one of these;

Anyone used this site?

Get this card from the same place you got the last one link. It's officially supported by Wood. The flash card you linked to at the other website in the post above this one is a great card. Most people here on the forums will tell you it sucks and it's fake or it's a clone but I own it and it's a great card. All in all, going by the prices though, I'd tell you to go with the card I just gave you a link to and you'll already know how long it takes to get your stuff mailed to you. :D

You're thinking of making another noob mistake. Never buy from a shop with R4i in it's name they generally sell crap carts.

You're in the U.K. so go to xpertron and if you are determined to get a cart called R4 then get this it'll arrive in about 3 working days. Personally I think you should get an AceKard2i for the same price but it's a much better cart.
