What 46 inch TV should I buy?

Well I am looking to buy a new 46 inch TV. And I really don't know which one to get, I also don't want it to be really expensive. I want the TV to be able to output 1080p and be a LED TV. I also don't know which company I should buy the TV from but I am thinking about just buying a Sony TV since I had good experience with Sony TVs in the past(all my TVs were a sony). I also don't really know about if I should get 120Hz, or 60Hz I don't really think it makes that big of a difference. Also I guess I don't really need a 3D TV but if you find one that is cheap and comes with like 4 glasses then I could buy it. My maximum price range is $900 or so.

Either Sony, Samsung or Vizio all are good brands to stick with (while Vizio is considered the "budget" one, it's still very good quality). Avoid Westinghouse, Philips or Coby, since they tend to be poorly built (often outsourced parts assembled. Just bought a 32" Vizio LCD TV for $315 at Radio Shack and I haven't had any issues whatsoever. In fact, I'd say the picture quality looks pretty much as good as the 46" Sony Bravia my mom and sister use.

Just a heads up, Sony, Samsung are good LCD, and Panasonic are good for Plasma, dont go with anything less if you want qualty.

I cant see the price of that Tv, SO I cant compare.

120Hz or 240Hz make movies and games look weird, plus there's no point going that high, unless you plan on watching 3D movies.

For 46" LED TVs, I don't think you'll find them much cheaper at most places.

Well the nice thing about that Sony Google TV that I linked to is that it has Android 3.1 on it. But from reviews people say that the Sony Google TV has input lag for video games, as it doesn't have a game mode. Is this really going to affect me much I have a Wii and a Ps3.

That TV you linked me too is on LCD, it isn't a LED LCD TV.

The 32" Vizio I got has a game mode that reduces input lag, so most Vizio models should have it (if that's the route you want to go).

I've seen positive comments about Toshiba TVs. I got a 32" 768p Toshiba LCD a couple of years ago, and the image quality (while not 1080p) is pretty good, especially for its price at the time.

I wouldn't, as I personally had issues with Sony devices (except for Playstation and Sony-Ericsson products). But that shouldn't stop you from making a decision.

You must be thinking about Westinghouse and Philips brands. Sony Bravia three years and counting....no issues whatsoever.

i have an lg and i love it. it plays hd movies off of a hard drive and so far i haven't found a single file type that it won't play. i'm sure there are some out there but i haven't got one

i also have a panasonic and it's a great tv and i would of stuck with panasonic except for their quattro gimmick they got going on. it's total bs and makes no sense since the video sources don't use a 4th color.

the color accuracy on my panasonic is pretty good eccept for reds. they tend to be in the magenta side of hues. mario's hat is never quite right

the lg on the other hand is comparable to my 17 inch macbook pro. the color accuracy is amazing, i could probably run print jobs off of it. skin tones are natural. colors are vibrant and it's thx certified. the gray scales are really accurate too - no blown out whites or details lost in shadows.

samsungs are a piece a shit. unless you buy the uber high expensive tv set from them. they do make some good panels, but they sell those to other companies. their color accuracy is shit and everything is overly contrasty - which i guess impresses games because it looks sharper. we had a bunch of samsung monitors at work (graphic design) and we just couldn't do any work on them, the color was just terrible. we finally got rid of them all. my sisters all have samsung and i've tried calibrating them and their is always something not right with them. either grays are too blue, to dark. darks are too darks one color will be the wrong hue or something. i just can't peacefully enjoy a samsung.

sonys are good but highly overpriced and are easily beat by some cheaper brands. and i don't trust sony reliability.

vizio. my parents have a vizio. it's got tons of controls to fudge with which made me hopeful at first when setting up their tv to look just right but in the end, the cheapness came through. they are getting better tho. the ones i checked most recently had really good image quality and full array led which i would highly recommend because edge lits have their issues. which btw, all the samsung tvs in my family developed awful edge light leaking over a couple of years, it is very distracting.

one thing to point out about vizio is that their anti glare coating is really bad. my mom's tv got this smear marks on it because she wiped it with a damp towel. i seen this happen before but not so easily.

Got a Sony Wega back a few years ago. Something went horribly wrong, the colors went all wonky then after a while the screen wouldn't turn on (as in, it turns on but with no display). The home theatre system that came with it stopped reading DVDs. I've also had a Sony MP3 player that I recall breaking. The TV fix was an estimated $800 repair (which made it more worth it to get it replaced), and we haven't really looked into the DVD problem (since we have like 10 DVD players already). The MP3 player we just scrapped.

Also, there's barely any Philips and absolutely no Westinghouse products in my house. Hell, I don't even think they sell Westinghouse products at all where I live.
