Should I sell my PS3?

So here's the lowdown:

I kinda feel down right now. I've been busy with uni lately and last night was my opportunity to finally get a crack on RAGE on PS3. Take note that I have never played a lengthy game of RAGE since I got the game since launch. I've had fun with Road Rage multiplayer and boosted up to 15 levels, did all co-op missions with a friend and got quite far on Campaign (up to Mutant Bash TV). So I have a decent progress. Last time I played any games was last week so it was really relaxing.

And then the bad news struck. Earlier this morning, I booted up RAGE only to find out that my save file is corrupted. Well, there wasn't a notification but there wasn't a continue option for campaign and all my emblems and progress for multi got wiped (even the settings). So I spend about 6 hours or so last night only to see them go away the next day. What a waste! I barely get to play games and this happens! I've checked the save files on the PS3 system and they're intact. I've tried rebooting several times and even formatting the hard drive - nothing happened.

I don't understand how my progress just went away like that. I'm the kind of guy that makes sure my consoles are looked after and turned off properly. I quit the game, back to the menu, take the disc out and power it down. I don't know how it happened. I'm thinking it's on the game's server's side but I don't have enough time to look into it.

Of course this is frustrating. So I'm having that urge to sell my PS3 now and trade it in for more 360 games like Assassin's Creed, Skyrim, Battlefield, etc. BTW, I've just had my PS3 for two months (with the main reason having it being to try the Assassin's Creed beta, among other things) and the 360 for 3 years now.

So, should I sell it? On one side, I feel like I've wasted my money on this system. I don't have enough money and time to try and take advantage of the PS3 exclusives. The people I know who are on PS3 seem to not play that much anymore. If I do trade it in, I only get a loss of about £20. On the other hand, future multiplayer games may perform and look better on the PS3. I also got a PS3 since I thought it would benefit from the future (PS3 getting cross-platform play with games like Portal, Counter Strike, etc.)

So please help me decide. Thanks

Just keep the triple and buy the exclusives when you have the cash. IT sounds like you're thinking is on the short-term.

You do know what other stuff does PS3 have right:
A free online PSN
Great games which was on 360 (most)
Bluray Disc compatibility
Soon-to-have PSV crossplay
True HD graphics and surrounds

I sold off my 360 with kinect (collecting dust at home) and never regretted it

And not really short-term. Like I said, the reason I wanna keep the PS3 is because some games like Portal 2 and the upcoming Counter Strike game allow cross-platform online between PS3 and PC/Mac. The 360 doesn't so that's a nice feature.

sell it.you don't need it if you have an xbox.
I've only got 1 console and 1 handheld and I have plenty of money but I don't need more than 1.
There is no point to have a ps3 and an xbox if you're not interested in the exclusives because they are equal.

I didn't say I want a 360. I already have a 360. What I'm asking is if I should trade the PS3 for upcoming AAA titles for the 360 e.g. Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed instead. And I'm hardly interested with the Vita so count that out.

Well...being an adult with a family, a mortgage, and a full-time job...I'm inclined to say sell it. If you have multiple gaming systems and very little time to play them, there's really no use in keeping them all around.

Still, it's best to have best of both worlds. I still won't recommend you selling it.

Cuz you will never know when you'll want that PS3 then suddenly regret selling.

Keep it and play Valkyria Chronicles.

Then you can sell it if you feel like it, but the PS3 was made so you could play VC on it, that's its only purpose..

The 360 is here to stay. I have a huge library of games and I've invested a lot of money on Rock Band DLC. The PS3 is relatively new so if I trade it, the loss wouldn't be as big as if I give up the 360.

Agreed! I stupidly traded in the awesome silver DS Lite for cash (I got bored of the DS library at that time). I have a 3DS now though and that's never going away!

One of the reasons I wanna keep the PS3. I also consult Lens of Truth for upcoming games to help me with deciding on what console should I play X game on. Also noticed that most upcoming games are supporting the PS3 now (early BF3 exclusives, cross-platform play, free copy of Assassin's Creed 1 when you buy the PS3 version of Revelations, etc.)

Haha, I've been told by my mates and in a topic I made some time ago that I should get that game. Maybe I will during the holidays

Thanks everyone for the replies. I've contacted the Bethesda support team and hopefully I'll get a swift answer. I'm hoping that it's a glitch on their servers since some games like Halo keep player's online files on their servers (like cloud-based).

No it has many more purposes, and I say you should not sell it. PS3 can play Blu-Ray which equals awesome!

Sell it if you do not use it much. Like you say you only loose out on 20. no biggy.
You can get a lot of 360 games with the money too.

I say keep the ps3. You got it, no reason to give it away. (Unless you want to save for the wii u. )
