Hey guys, my friend just softmodded his wii this morning. Then he asked me what to install so that he won't brick his wii so I told him to install Priiloader. He downloaded Priiloader from wiibrew.org. The downloaded version is 0.7.So he installed Priiloader using MMM. Then after it installed it said about STACK DUMP. So he turned off his Wii then nothing shows up on the screen. Then I told him about my uncle that fixes Wii who also fixed my Wii. He said that some versions of Priiloader can brick a Wii. Is that true?

yep very true

search for the priiloader thread and read some of the bad stories

i think the best most stable version is priiloader 0.4

Technically, all versions of priiloader can cause a brick. It DOES replace the system menu, after all. Still, the chances of it are very slim. I bet that for every bricking issue, there are at least a dozen people don't have any problems whatsoever. (I could argue that those dozen use the installer itself to install it rather than MMM, but that's probably irrelevant).

Has he tried turning on his wii with the reset button pressed? That may pop up the priiloader menu (or even the installer).

So If some versions of Priiloader can brick a Wii. Why did they still have to release it?? Which is a better version 0.2 or 0.4??

Because the guy who writes it (Daco) refuses to listen to anyone who tells him it's dangerous, instead he normally responds by telling them they can go stick their head up their ass. Except when it happens here on gbatemp, then he does the same thing while pretending to be someone else so he can deny doing it later/because his original nickname got banned.

0.5 bricks
0.6 rarely bricks but happens
and i doubt the 0.7 is the reason it bricked

^^ So freaking true.

Personally, I found the most stable version to be the last official one, but too bad it doesn't with a SM that is > 4.1

EDIT: I fixed what tueidj said :D

I used to have a lot of respect for DacoTaco. Then I met him.

LOL I am not even sure of what version of Priiloader I have. I know during installation I was warned it could brick my WIi numerous times by ModMii.

Like, met the ****** IRL??? or just spoke with him online?

DAMNIT, I wasted my 3,000th post on something about Daco!!! What a fucking waste.

But YAY!!! My 3,000th post. YAY!!!
I talked to him on IRC. He was going on about how people who bricked their Wii deserved it because they made a mistake.

Never knew he was such a dick.

I have .07 on mine and I never had any problems with it. I also had StarFall (If I remember correctly) installed along with it.

what a pompous prick. He should have just updated priiloader to work with 4.2+ and forget about adding in the new features that have caused fail. He is just so full of himself.... and fail.

And WTF is up with it being automatically a white background? That hurts my eyes and I am sure the first setting that nearly everyone changes. WTF was he thinking? Or could he not program things correctly to be by default a black background (

I've never really had any issues with Priiloader. But then, I just followed installation instructions and made a NAND backup.

I've never installed Priiloader on any Wii that I own.

Every program that makes permanent changes to your NAND should be used with EXTREME caution.
You realize how much that covers, don't you? The HBC, bootmii, and any wad are just a few examples.
