As anyone playing the Xbox 360/Playstation 3 and PC versions of Battlefield 3 have noticed, there's a definite difference in graphical quality between consoles and the PC. However, it seems that console owners have hit it lucky, with an optional high res texture pack available to install for Battlefield 3, improving the overall graphical quality of the game.

For PS3 owners, who have the game ship on a single Bluray, it'll simply be on the Bluray disc. For Xbox 360 owners, who have the game on two discs, it'll ship on the second disc. No size estimates have been given, however, but mind you this isn't a full game install, simply a texture pack install.

Battlefield 3 comes out this month. The beta is still out, although it'll be gone soon.

This is probably going to be the first FPS title I'm going to buy on launch.

That looks pretty badass. Although, I hope the game plays and looks a lot better then the beta did. I really want someone to give Call of Duty a run for there money. That way we benefit with better games overall.

This is awesome news! I loved the beta and it's good to know that the final release will at least be noticeably different than the beta. Thanks to DICE for giving us the beta to make the game better.

Also, BF3 on the 360 will have two discs? Is it one disc for single player and one disc for online? I'm confused... Will other games coming out in AAA season (AC Revelations, MW3, Batman, Skyrim) have multiple discs on 360 as well? I don't know about you but the multidisc thing is really inconvenient for me and I'm really avoiding the wear and tear thing since it happened on my previous 360 before...

I dont really understand this. A high res texture pack? So basically, you have an option of whether you want the game to look good, or look bad? There isn't enough info here. Does this cause a drop in framerate or something? Why are the textures not simply part of the game?

Already canceled my PS3 preorder in favour of the PC version.
Too late for me, but this is good news.

What's with the fake source link? The post wasn't written very well so I wanted to read the original one.

I dunno about those games, but I heard RAGE needs 5 discs.

RAGE has 3 discs. Was supposed to get the 360 version but opted for PS3 since it only has 1 disc and I couldn't care less about the PS3 version suffering from texture pop-ins even if the game's installed. I prefer convenience because on the 360 version, there's a separate disc for single and multiplayer. Call me lazy but I prefer inducing less wear and tear on my consoles' optical drive.

One disc is multiplayer, the other is single player.

Not a lot of Xbox 360 games come on multiple discs (outside of one DLC disc, one game disc). Only games that have multiple game discs for the Xbox 360 that I can think of are LA Noire, FFXIII, Lost Odyssey, and Mass Effect 2.

It just makes the game look better. It's not an inherent part of the game because, odds are, it's a lot of data and it needs to be installed to work, it can't be streamed from a disc.

Oops, my bad. But, um, thanks for the compliment?

Alright, that is pretty awesome. I might not buy this at launch in case of any major bugs/glitches, but this is definitely on my radar.

What'll you be getting it for?

System wise (If that's what you're asking)? My 360, since my laptop probably wouldn't be able to handle Battlefield 3, let alone any game made in the past 8 years or so.
