The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct recap, Ocarina of Time remake release date revealed

After being announced last week, the first of two broadcasts is set to go live later today with a stark focus on The Legend of Zelda and its 40th anniversary celebrations. According to a tweet from the Japanese Nintendo account, we'll be seeing more details on the Ocarina of Time remake, alongside various bits of non-gaming media. This most likely hints at a bit more information on the upcoming movie, but could potentially be more.

With me working through the presentation itself, I figured I'd get a thread up early to give you folks a place to discuss, with the intent to update it when I get home with all the key bits of information. Is there anything you're hoping to see? Any particular wants for the upcoming remake? Let us know your thoughts.

My predictions that will 100% happen

- EVERYONE IS HERE type shit (all Zeldas are playable in one console)
- Link's Crossbow Training HD
- Tingle Rupeeland HD
- Link in Fortnite (IN ALL PLATFORMS)
- Zelda Anime on Crunchyroll

The preview shots they've shared look really bad to me, like a fan made effort, or IGN April Fools from 2010 or something. It just feels off.
That was how I felt about Chris Pratt in the videos leading up to the first Mario movie he voiced in. Like dude was actively phoning it in to troll or sabotage.

For a 30-minute direct, before a big Nintendo Direct, I'm thinking:

- Trailer for the movie with behind the scenes (I think they did this for one of the Mario movies, and it was super awkward, so I'd definitely look forward to something like that)
- A new 'Zelda Challenge' in the eShop to replace the DK one. (I'd also count on some Avatars being added)
- Some kind of 'anniversary' game, like Mario 35 or Tetris 99.
- Twilight Princess on the Virtual Console (I think this would mean every major Zelda game would be playable on the Switch 2?)
- Return of Ballad of the Goddess, or some other kind of real world event (Zelda expansion for the Nintendo theme park ?)
- Limited edition Zelda-themed Switch 2 with controller (I think we've seen this already?)
- Ocarina of Time Trailer, with Amiibo
- An announcement for either
- - New main Zelda entry announcement (something like that e3 moment where they just showed off keyart; I can't imagine we'd get screenshots or a trailer)
- - Remaster / Remake of another older Zelda game. I can't imagine it would be the Oracle titles/Threequel (because that would be too good), so maybe an updated Minish Cap?

"As you can see, we have kept the loading screens to keep the nostalgic experience from the original game"
No, you kept the loading screen because the console couldn't support such a huge open map 😹

Last edited by Noctosphere,
So, new console + new controller + new amiibo (100% predictable)
More footage of OoT remake (100% predictable)
Mobile app (why though?)
and a friendly reminder that a movie is in production

What a shame. 100% disapointed by this 40th anniversary direct.

it was neat. ocarina of time remake looks a bit weird in places.
surprised they made shiek so feminine looking this time.
I'm kinda interested, but honestly twilight princess/dusklight VR is just so mindblowing.

I hope they have some for the remake like they did with labo stuff at the very least.
