To celebrate its 25th anniversary, XBOX has launched pre-orders for the XBOX 25th Anniversary Collection. For the occasion, the trailer below was aired.

This collection includes the translucent green-themed XBOX Series X25 Limited Edition console which features a new “X” animation that lights up green when you power it on, along with the “XBOX 25” mark. It will be available on November 13, 2026, for an MSRP of $899.99 USD.

The collection also includes the XBOX Controller X25 Special Edition. This controller has a see-through back case and battery door, revealing the classic XBOX logo, and features the original-color ABXY buttons and a green XBOX button. It will be available for purchase separately when it launches on October 20, 2026.

I can still read it, I have crazy sensitive eyes, but i'm asking for anyone who can't.

Can't sell a digital license though, and there's no account to bind ownership ("subscription") of a disc to. For a system that hasn't been pwned yet, it does make a difference. Is there an industry-wide problem and is pyhsical vs. digital a lesser problem than DRM? Sure, but in present day, discs are leagues ahead of digital, particularly on consoles.

This is true.

But I am more concerned with long-term ownership, preserving the contents of the disc when it rots or is destroyed.

It's important to point out limitations in this because circumventing console security will only get more difficult.

If they wanted to replicate the OG Xbox, why not make an Xbox Series X packed in a OG Xbox console style?

Remember the LEDs and USB ports that they had modded? That'd be cool to see on an official release... But nope, this is just a Series X console with a green clear case.

I got a Series S years ago second hand for only $150. What in the hell is up with microsoft jamming up the price of their consoles???? I knew it was bad but I had no idea the Series X was close to a grand

I got the MCC and Halo 5 physically for Xbone for like 10 dollars total. I also have MCC on Steam for like 10 dollars on sale. Xbox games are so cheap. I got Rare Replay/Gears of War for 5 dollars physically on the same disc.

This is also why I don't want physical games to go away. lol
