WiiCompiled is a new project that lets PC gamers play Mario Kart Wii natively on PC without emulation. Using static recompliation to convert the code into native PC code, this method allows the game to run at higher resolutions with native widescreen/ultrawide support, uncapped frame rates and more...

The beta release also supports online multiplayer as well as Retro Rewind (a popular Mario Kart Wii mod) which offers hundreds of brand new tracks to play. Native PC controller support is also included and an in-game settings provides advanced customisation and controller options.

Please note that WiiCompiled does not include any Nintendo game files or assets and players will need to provide their own copy of Mario Kart Wii in order to get set up and play and the project is still in active development.

Yes, AI was used for some code / assistance, but that doesn't mean its entirely vibecoded. Other parts of the code were made by developers.

Vibecoded would mean almost 100% of the code is AI written. I heavily doubt that is the case.

There is a genuine difference between vibe coding with AI and just using it for assistance with a project (which is the case here, AI being used for assistance)

Vibe coding is where almost 100% of the code in a project was made with AI.

AI for assistance (this case) is not 100% AI code. It has both developer code and AI code.

Also, AI probably wouldn’t be able to do a static recompilation project alone vibecoding. It’s very advanced. Most it can do is assist with the project

The issue you linked has nothing to do with the software containing malware and is related to a vulnerability in the way that the online is handled. It's not good because it could be used to deploy malware in a scenario where the server is spoofed or MITM'd, so they should fix it, but it doesn't indicate the software is malware. I'm not sure where your screenshots came from but they didn't come from the issue you linked. The last screenshot also just looks like an error.

A JetBrains poll among 15000 developers worldwide found that 90% of professional developers use AI coding agents at work weekly or more. 68% said they use AI coding agents daily.

A StackOverflow poll among 1100 developers says that 59% of them use AI coding agents in any capacity, which is lower but still the majority.

Are you going to tell all these people that they have serious problems? Regardless of the argument behind it, your no compromise attitude towards AI assisted coding is simply removed from reality, whether you like it or not.

AI or not isn't the issue honestly, the real problem is when people DON'T understand what they compile and publish, and also when "vibe coders" hide they used AI.

I understand why someone would use AI to accelerate or even learn while developping something, and I also understand programmers who take pride in creating old school 100% human code.

It's not a matter to me, however I didn't like this specific software, I find it complicated and unfriendly to use compared to regular projects like Ship of Harkinian, Perfect Dar, etc... Having to use "Wheel Wizard" which I didn't know and is not even clear what's it intended to do is a dead end for me.

It's just no worth the hassle compared to emulating it with Dolphin.
