At gamescom 2026, ASUS lifted the veil on the pricing and availability of its upcoming ROG XBOX Ally X20 bundle. The latter was announced earlier this year and includes the ROG Xbox Ally X20 (an upgraded ROG Xbox Ally X model in a transparent colour scheme) and the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 augmented reality glasses.

The ROG XBOX Ally X20 bundle starts at $2,499 and includes:
  • ROG XBOX Ally X20 handheld: featuring ROG's all-new Nebula HDR Display with a 7.4-inch OLED panel, and powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor
  • ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses: featuring audio by Bose, a 171-inch virtual screen at four meters, and a micro-OLED display with up to a 240Hz refresh rate that offers a 57° FOV
  • Accessories: A custom dbrand Killswitch case, a custom Protector Case from Pelican, a 68W charger

ASUS also announced that it will retail the handheld separately. The ROG XBOX Ally X20 starts at $1,299.

The ROG XBOX Ally X20 Bundle, ROG XBOX Ally X20, and the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses are all available for pre-order today from ASUS Store and Best Buy, and will be on shelves on October 15.

$1300 to $2500? Wtf are with these prices. Keep your Exbox.
It basically is a PC package in portable mode which I predicted every since SteamDeck launch would be the higher focus of future gaming compared to consoles. The only real difference is you could use physical on a console, well could.

this makes me think about the fact i got a legion go S for like 900 CAD (Z1E 32gb RAM SteamOS Model) since the performance lift from Z1E to Z2AI is pretty minor iirc. couldn't fathom paying any more than that for a handheld even if it has a fancy screen or 10 or so extra frames at max TDP. Is the S perfect itself? no, quite frankly i have some issues with it but it is a good backlog killer with no microslop taint on it and i plan to keep it for a good while. so wtf microslop and assus, 1200 USD is nuts.

Blame AI data centers for the price. But soon, those AI data centers will be doing the playing for you. You just have to pay—that’s all. No playing needed.
So many ''gamers'' have resorted to gameplay vids on yt rather than playing the games themselves, I wonder why

With advanced AI, it will be able to play like you, so you’ll feel like you’re playing—except you won’t have to suffer the wear and tear on your hands and fingers. Plus, you can go eat and sleep while it plays for you. What a gift!!

Unpopular opinion: I won't consider a PC handheld without touchpads like the Steam Deck.

This colorway is cool though, reminds me of the limited edition Steam Deck OLED with the transparent case.
Popular opinion: I won't consider a PC handheld as slow and obsolete as the Steam Deck.

Of course I also won't pay $2500 for one either. You folks are going to love the pricing on the PS6, by the way. You think fast memory and fast storage are expensive now? Just wait.

Give me cutting edge perf and trackpads and you'll make my day
