Dekopon - (Mostly) Fullspeed 3DS Emulation on Nintendo Switch

A new pre-release version has been released. Due to it's nature of being a PR, expect breaking bugs and glitches. If you prefer stability, I would not recommend using this version, however, if you want to play a game that has poor performance on the current stable build, it may be worth checking it out. Get it here: https://github.com/PalindromicBreadLoaf/dekopon/releases/tag/v2.0.0-RC1

New features:
  • Async GPU threading
    • This is expected to break games and is a hack, however, in games that couldn't reach fullspeed before, this is a huge help assuming it doesn't crash.
    • Enabling this feature requires a restart of the emulator.
  • More verification of game files to prevent crashes while loading from corrupted roms
  • Some game-specific crashes may have been fixed. I don't have the games to test.
  • The shader compilation notice is now toggleable. This should remain disabled for the best performance.
  • Bump nxvk version for slightly faster shader compilation times.
Known Issues:
  • The emulator crashes upon trying to re-open it within the same hbloader session. No idea why this happens.

Please report any bugs/crashes that you experience here. @halibali specifically, this may have fixed the crash you were experiencing. Please test and report back if it has please :).

With them enabled mk7 works full speed without an overclock in Raikopon. So I thought it could also be a good addition to Dekopon
Mario Kart 7 already runs full speed without overclock even before this update. Well besides on Luigi Raceway, but otherwise it's full speed.

I noticed that screen makes the game "ram frequency bound" have you tried increasing the ram at 1600 MHz in portable at least?
I noticed that the standard ram overclock for oled (2133) is enough to get over that bottleneck idk about intermediate values.

Also which resolution are you running?
I noticed that increasing the resolution raises the CPU requirements too, on that stage and on star cup stage 3.

Thanks to the fix, the crashing issue in that section has been resolved.
However, the GPU usage now hits 99% in the same area, causing severe stuttering.
I tried adjusting the newly updated GPU settings, but that didn't solve the problem.

With the same settings in TICO, GPU usage is around 90% and there is no stuttering.

Overclock settings: 2400/1228/2666.

The GPU being the bottleneck is crazy and something I haven't seen before. Especially not at those clocks. I'll do my best to look into it. What res scaling are you using?

Usually I play in docked so yes ram is at 1600 MHz. I play at double resolution, so maybe decreasing that does help. I can't test it right now but I will eventually. Thx for your help

Resolution scaling hurts performance a lot, but playing in docked 1x res looks really bad. I’ll look into adding them in when I get a chance.

I normally use 2x resolution. I just switched to 1x, and GPU usage dropped; the stuttering disappeared, too.

I wondered if the 1x resolution was the reason I didn't have issues in TICO, so I checked—and it turns out I was using 2x there as well.

I'll see if there's anything I can do to reduce GPU load. It's an area I haven't looked much into at all since the CPU is almost always the bottleneck.
