if you met your family/guardians when you were a little kid via time travel, what would be the dialogue?

it would probably have been a lot funnier if some younger users replied.
i think, as you get older, a lot of us have a lot of regrets.
The thing is, I have zero regrets. I would never want to go back, simply because I changed too much.

I am happy with what I became, even though my parents, former instructors, etc. disowned me after they all went through trauma. I became exactly what God needed.

Let me tell you all point blank: your past mistakes _make_ you capable today. No one can design a fully working brand new car engine without trial and error: your "mistakes" are lanterns that show you where to walk.

I used to have regrets, got in the way of me doing well. now, I am a retired perfectionist; easier to be close to perfection _without_ perfectionism.

Don't use the past to have regrets: use it to make you sharper in the present. Those "mistakes" are why people go from kindergarden to a career; they _learn_.

To my mom I would have nothing to say.
And to my dad I would say: xy years from now, dont summon me back to my hometown.
I hate it there. I moved out for good reason, and I will move out again.
Have fun living there by yourself. I wont let my life be ruin.--

Oh wait that got a bit annoyed

I would say: "nice to meet you all. Great that you were my parents, I baked a cake for you.
I love how you taught me to be selfsufficient all my life and internalizing that most parents are useless-"

Ok I give up.
I don't want a timemachine.

I would just slap past me in the face and tell er to "do everything you did, except ever listening to anyoneelse, you know best. Only bae can be trusted)

Yep.

As I said: Thank goodness I have no timemachine.
It would just collect dust. I don't regret any of my choices in my life (emphasis on "my")

They aren’t your real parents, they will fuck up your life and beat you senseless if you stay, get the fuck out of there.

Oh yeah and buy Google and Apple stock.

Same. But my father was the worst one. My mom is ok.
Why are dads such shit a lot of the time? I mean there’s some moms that are too. I lived through that. But a lot of times when you hear of abusive people, it’s dads, husbands, boyfriends…..

I really wish I knew. Some people just are not fit to be parents.

I was placed into the custody of my grandparents as a child, following child abuse.

I do not resent my parents at all.

My cousin was likewise abused by her mother.

My students say I am the most patient and encouraging teacher they ever had, and my cousin became a dedicated mother; we knew _exactly_ where the pitfalls were, and instead of a cycle of easygoing/rough upbringing, I broke it by using a high expectations and high encouragement approach: "Mr. G, you're very chill and like to joke around a lot, yet when it comes to the rules and the classwork you lay it out to us straight."

"how do you have a 'kind and strict at the same time' approach?"

"This is the only place on campus I feel safe."

"What? What do you mean you never had a fight in your classroom?"

"Mr. G____, your classroom management is unheard of."

Me: "fellas! I merely transplanted what I learned from South Korean Special Forces into a classroom setting. The CO never yelled, never had to raise his voice, yet commanded attention. he was as friendly as a grandpa, until he would flare up and drop me like a sack of bricks. he made it cleat that he didn't want us to waste one second worrying about him blowign the whistle on us; all of that effort was instead on the technique!"

Me: "that is why as long as you are working on the projects with your full effort, you may talk about anything appropriate you like: pokemon, elden ring, Martial Arts, football, weightlifting, that horrible band called 'one direction' at the same time."

Many times we worked past the bell: "well, that's a high compliment, folks! if you forgot what time class ends, and I did too, then We must have enjoyed it!"

That's the thing about people who grew up abused like us; We tend to have the potential to be great leaders or parents; we learned what not to do; that's pretty much how engineering works.

And in a media example, as much as I hate the korra show, notice that zuko ends up being a great parent, and toph, etc. kinda have major issues; zuko was abused; he knew what to look out for. that is a parody, but the real message it is based on fully applies.

I know online I am 'more cray-cray than azula (avatar last airbender), c'hrell (tmnt 2003), and sarge (red vs. blue) if they had a heart', but in person, I am very level-headed in general.

No, I'll keep it up personally. Let them. The KCIA already knows where I live.

This is allowed in God's Plan; let it be.

"Uh, oh, he was caught online talking about enjoying helping students have futures, what are we gonna do, guys?!"

"I dunno; spread more Mercy and Kindness or somethin'."

I'm trying to be more considerate of others, but whatever.
