Grand Theft Auto VI pre orders go live tomorrow, physical release limited to code in box

The delays may be behind us, but the news isn't all good for Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar have today announced that pre-orders for the game will go live tomorrow, on the 25th of June. Those who pre-order will get the Vintage Vice City Pack, a small throwback to one of their older titles. With the game launching on the 19th of November, fans will be able to start their pre-loads a full week early to ensure there's enough time to get things ready. So what's the bad news here? As you've probably seen from the title, there's no true physical release planned for the game. The retail version will instead feature a code in the box, being available to buy at the same time as pre-loads going live.

Rockstar also announced an Ultimate Edition for the game, throwing in an assortment of "vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action" for those willing to spend big. Barring further delays, the game will be available to play on the 19th of November.

For real? i thought they shutdown downloads too for 3ds and wii u and what's before, that's freaking neat tbqh, doesn't change the fact you'll have to download the game, like you own it on software only
Yeah all download servers are still live. They've had a note on the site that this may change but.... its been like 10 years now so I doubt much will change unless there is some disaster on the companies end

Lol. Ok, what if the friend says no?
I have a good group of friends. We don't say no to each other. We've done this for a while now. It keeps the cost down on gaming where we share our systems to each other. I'll have to wait until he beats it and let him borrow one of my handhelds or make him some food in trade.

Preorder emptiness...lol what's the point of this kind of pre-order now? What's the point of moving to the store for that ?

If all this release does is finally end the incessant whining about physical media then it will have been worth the $1.5B dev cost. Enjoy downloading your 240 gigabytes + a day one patch. That is the way all PS6 releases will be and has been the norm in the PC world for a LONG time now.

Oh, and if all of you who care about physical boycott this release... It will still be the best selling game of all-time and your boycott -- like ALL of your threatened boycotts -- will be pointless and forgotton.

Of course I'll be 🏴‍☠️relying on Fitgirl🏴‍☠️ for my digital download, but I won't by justifying that thievery by pretending that Rockstar deserves it for not wasting money on a Bluray disc for the whiners.

No, that's still crap.
Game Key Cards can be resold or traded. So pretending it's the same thing is ignorance.

lol it's the same thing with extra steps, they close the eshop and now you don't have a """DOOR""" for those """KEY""" cards
You realize the 2006 Wii eShop is still open 20 years on for you to redownload your purchases, right? Every eshop Nintendo has EVER made is still available to redownload on. That ability might very well outlive you.

It's pretty much pennies to them to keep up download servers (or dimes, however you look at it). It's pretty much just static data.

Not only is there no disc in the box for that price but having entire features that are on the game already be pay walled for an extra $20 is awful. Not to mention it's highly likely to be a gay, woke and sterile humor hunk of garbage. 🙄

Yeah, that's always been their one positive to is at least you can get some semblance of ownership.

The only upside to CiaB is there's a chance the price will get cheaper, quicker than DD alone.
GTA V was the most traded in game at GameStop. And the people came back to buy a preowned copy when they got more cash. This was a repeat thing monthly along with PS5 consoles.

Is it true that this game require internet connection all the time to play the game ?
What? Where did you see that? R advertised the game as single-player experience with no mentioning of the multiplayer side at all so far. I mean, yeah you'll need the internet connection for the initial download and update or whatever. But after? Doubt you'll need it.

It would definitely be something if it did require it afterwards.

Yea that maybe a PC requirement when it comes to PC someday, to fight Piracy, but I don't see PS5/ Xbox needing all time online connection just for single player.

PS5 is also hackable, so always-online might be a requirement they force for at least the first few years after launch. Considering how far they've gone already, nothing Rockstar or Take Two does would be all that surprising.
