I'm sorry, did i miss a revolution in Iran or is he actively inciting that? He would know, having been behind the Jan 6th insurrection

Honestly at this point. What are we going to do about it? I don't mean it in a sarcastic way or defeatist way, I mean it seriously.
I'm not American, so not much to do here. At this point, it's like asking what I'm going to do to stop one WWE wrestler from piledriving another. Just watching the story unfold and griping about the insanity of it all.

If Trump does the unthinkable and nukes Iran, he'll have a hoard of angry middle easterners storm the white house. The rest of the country will either join or sit back and see him get sodomized with a bayonet.

It'll be interesting to see if he'll push the nuke button.

Because he didn't get a deal, he decides to induce genocide an entire nation of people. Good and bad. Which, let's be honest, is exactly what Israel also wants.

What a fucking insane individual.

Can't wait to see the MAGAts of GBATemp explain this!

They left because we can't meet them in the middle and just post wrong things that we think are right!
We can't meet them in the middle because every step we take towards the middle, they take a step away from it, attempting to lead us into their territory.

They can't, so they won't. If there is ANYTHING else which is even a slight gray area and up to opinion, they'll come right back.

MTG, Tucker Carlson, Theo Vaughan, Tim Dillon, Alex Jones, etc. are ALL coming out against Trump now saying they need to invoke the 25th. They have viewers to lose, so they need to scramble to be on the right side of history.

The MAGA tempers here have nothing to lose, so they'll never admit their mistakes. Which is a shame because I can only imagine the elation they'd feel to finally say "Fuck this administration!".

Wonder if even Israel found he was going too far and told him to stand down. After all, they tell him to jump and he goes "How High?" All because he wanted to spite Biden....

I expected TACO Tuesday, but is this "deal" confirmed by Iran, or is this just Trump blowing hot air, claiming a deal was struck because he didn't go through with the genocide?
According to the AP bulletin I just got:

"Iran's Supreme National Security Council says it has accepted a two-week ceasefire in the war"

we seriously need to rethink of a loophole in the 14th amendmenr where insurection is legal in EXTREME CASES Abe lincon probably never thought of a president THIS INSANE would ble elected

I mean if we are all going to get pardoned for it like this guy did with his constituents…..🤷🏽‍♀️

So here's the scorecard so far:

The US has spent BILLIONS per day on this illegal war.
Lost multiple planes, helicopters, and other equipment, including their F-35.
13-15 soldiers died that we know of and had hundreds wounded.
The world saw that the US military overrated.
The previous Iran leader was replaced with the more angry son who will want revenge.
Had all their allies turn their back on them.
Made the entire world pay more for their gas.
Had the president curse like a petulant child for the entire world to see while threatening war crimes.

All for what?!?! A ceasefire for a couple weeks where the strait will be open in some way, but we don't know the details of.

So they have a 10 point plan given by Iran which we don't know all the details to, but if it's anything like what Iran has been demanding this entire time, it's quite the capitulation.

- Allowing uranium enrichment
- Lifting all sanctions
- Charging millions per ship to pass through the strait
- Stopping Israel from attacking them or their allies

So I have to ask: Is there a single upside to this outcome for the US?

Unless I'm mistaken, the strait is open..... just not to the US (that Trump claimed the country didn't need) and Israel.

The sad thing is: this just proves that the side-changing isn't genuine, and is one of my common gripes with the media (including many former talk show hosts). They only change sides/angles under two scenarios: 1) they stand to gain far more profits switching (with no risk of loss if they just stick to what they're doing), or 2) they stand to lose profits sticking to the same side (with no guarantee of increased profits changing sides). When it comes to which side the media takes, it's never about what's morally (or legally) right or wrong, but what gets them the most viewers - and thus the most money - in the short term.

On a related note, I don't think the 25th Amendment will work here. Only Section 4 would properly apply (declaring the president unable to discharge their powers and duties), and that can only be invoked by the Vice President and majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments (i.e. the Cabinet) or another body that Congress by law may provide, with the Vice President assuming power as Acting President if Section 4 is invoked successfully. And guess who's our Vice President and what the majority of the Cabinet consists of.

It's not even guaranteed to work if invoked, either. Because if the President disputes the claim and states that they can, indeed, discharge their duties, and the Vice President fires back within 4 days, then it goes to Congress to decide, with a 2/3rds majority needed in both Houses with 21 days to determine that the President is unable to discharge their duties. And the two government shutdowns we've had since the start tells me that Congress as a whole will be unlikely to meet that majority.

Summary of the 25th Amendment by the National Constitution Center

(Edit: The idea of successfully invoking the 25th against Trump is basically a matter of "the stars need to align just right in order to kick Trump out and not make things worse". The only other surefire option would be a bloody rebellion/revolution where democracy is thrown completely out the window in favor of seeing how many heads roll.)

Heard that from an Iranian minister (aka: more trustworthy) a couple days ago. It's open to anyone except enemies of Iran.

The ceasefire is obviously the best outcome for now. By threatening more war crimes, any attempt at a deal is ridiculous. If i hold a gun to your head if i don't get what i want, it's insane to even pretend that you'll act by what you want rather than to avoid the threat.
And with Trump's impulses (this is what... The fourth time he's changed course) and acts of terror (this whole thing began with the us terrorizing Iran), i rate the chances of a genuine deal impossible as long as Trump's president.

Actually, we kinda do, and it's a doozy.

Here's a summary:

- The Strait of Hormuz to be reopened "under the co-ordination of the Armed Forces of Iran".
- The war against "all components" of Iran's Axis of Resistance to end.
- US forces to withdraw from "all bases and points of deployment within the region".
- The establishment of a "secure transit protocol" in the Strait of Hormuz.
- The full payment of compensation to Iran.
- The lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions, as well as the resolutions of the Board of Governors and the Security Council.
- The release of all frozen Iranian assets and properties abroad.

Here's the kicker. If Trump refuses, he will be seen as the bad guy unanimously around the world and risks political suicide.

And if Trump accepts, Iran actually will be better off than the start of the war, because now, USA will OWE Iran money and all the sanctions that has been put in place for many years, will come undone. Oh, and of course, Iran will keep charging money for all boats that crosses the Hormuz Strait. At least, those that aren't Iran's ally.

Iran played their cards right and Trump fell right into their trap.

Prepare your tax dollars because one way or another, you guys will pay. Either for Trump's war desires or for reparations.

What a fucking FAFO LMFAO moment.

No matter the option chosen, Trump will still lose.

It's the opposite. Despite Netanyahu and Israeli government people showing some soft diplomatic stance on the deal, several sources were saying that Israel was not included in the initial US/Iran talks and they are not super happy about it. Extremist zionist Israelis on twitter are also melting down and saying Trump betrayed them by siding with Iran and demanding he wipe them off the map. Israel's government has also refused to abide by the agreement to stop bombing Lebanon as well.

Israel were the ones who started this and got Trump to involve the US. There is a very significant chance that Israel are also going to be the ones who blow a hole in the ceasefire and re-ignite the war.
