Makes me wonder whether to pick up a Switch 2.

Originally I was going to wait for a hardware refresh, but with the way things are going I wont be surprised to see that go up in price, especially as I can get 20% off of one right now.

Glad I got a PS5 Disc edition when I did.
$250 on Ebay for a broken HDMI port.
Did the port replacement, cleaned it out and added fresh liquid metal.
Works fine.

The PS5 has now exceeded the MSRP for a PS3 brand new at launch and the 3DO.
Hell, might as well throw the Neo Geo in the loop as well.

i don’t understand how they seriously believe that they can stay competitive while continuously raising prices on a console that has a whopping 20 something exclusives, many of which have that exclusivity on an expiration date. say what you want about nintendo, but at least they give consumers a reason to choose their console over an xbox or a PC.

Likely betting on people buying PS5's anyway, they've already had price rises and that hasn't stopped people.

Don't blame Trump, it's nothing to do with him. This is down to the AI boom and the fact that storage prices are insane and almost all ram is sold out for the next few years. If now costs more to make the console due to the ram shortages and that's why it's more expensive.

Last year 2025 in December, I bought PS5 Disc Edition – $449.99 from Bestbuy store online internet.

2 years ago I bought PS5 Disc Edition - $424.99 from Bestbuy store online internet.

I already own two PS5 Disc Edition and very happy to have both. One system is for backup only if my current PS5 stopped working then I can switch in few minutes much quickly to save my time and money.

I worry about PS6 will cost too much money than PS5. I guess PS6 will be my last to buy gaming console before PS7 come out will force to d8gital only then I would stop buy after that. Companies will lost sales of hardware if force to digital only would become worst ever. If I saw digital only gaming consoles then I refuse to buy then force to retired means drop support and stop give money to companies period.

Kinda glad I got a PS5 Pro during Christmas, that was it was $100 dollars off, was 649.99 plus tax.
