Why are Milk Bottles wider than Soda Bottles?

Why are Milk Bottles, the world over, so much wider in their openings than Soda Bottles are?
Wouldnt that enable you to take much larger mouthfuls of them?
Why would that ever be the case?
Wouldnt People drink LESS of milk than of soda?

Glass bottles perhaps, but the carton or plastic bottles we have here have pretty standard neck and cap sizes close to soda or even water bottles.

In fact what is more shocking here is that we have bagged milk, fuck that stuff seriously lol

yeah, bagged milk is indeed strange!
i mean, ive seen it before, but its just... thin plastic, storing liquid in a container so easily punctured seems counter-productive to me!

What bothers me the most is that once a corner is snipped off open, there is no good way to seal it, so the milk goes bad much quicker compared to a proper bottle with a twisted cap.

Plastic is cheaper to produce than glass. Different glass manufacturers and plastic may have different molds and tools keeping cost down to produce.

Well I can do for sure but like, I also like it when a bottle of milk could last the entire week and not taste funny near the end.
I usually buy 2L bottles, for additional context.

@VinsCool i tend to use milk for cooking or for putting in tea, milk tends to last a while that way. id be angry if it kept spoiling! thats for sure

Yeah I hate it when I pour milk in my coffee and it tastes off, so you bet I try to consume it within the week before it starts to become sour!
Usually when it happens I'm already near the bottom so I throw it away as soon as I notice it is getting funky, then I force myself to finish the coffee anyway lol

Could you theoretically wash a gallon soda bottle and refill it with the milk giving it a tighter seal using a funnel?

Possibly but like, why would I bother when the milk bottles I have around have almost the same cap seal when it is twisted tight?

Unless you mean for the bagged milk specifically, then yes surely that could work, but for what purpose really?
I could buy the same milk in a plastic bottle for virtually the same price per liter, so it is only a dumb additional step for essentially the same outcome.

If you really want your sanity to decrease quicker buy powdered milk and mix in water. It lasts longer that way but it's an extra step.

Put powdered milk into regular milk to get Double Milk.

Think about use case. A standard fizzy bottle is geared towards one person drinking it. A glass of milk isn't, it is in fact for the entire family to share. The larger neck would make it easier to pour into individual glasses where it would be drank among multiple family members.

TL;DR fizzy bottles for loner loser incel virgins and milk glass bottles are for wholesome famililies
