Hi everyone,

I accidentally installed regular Wii IOS 56, 57, and 58 WADs on my vWii.

Now, Wii Virtual Console titles black screen when I try to launch them.

I can still:
- Enter vWii mode
- Open the Homebrew Channel (Aroma)

I do not have a NAND backup.

Region: USA (U)

What is the safest way to restore the correct vWii IOS versions without bricking my system?

Thanks for your help!

You can try using the vWii Decaffeinator app, which basically will delete those IOS files so the Wii U will trigger a system update and redownload clean versions of the correct IOS files for the vWii.

Just follow this guide to get started: https://wiiu.hacks.guide/recover-vwii-ioses-channels.html

In your case, use advanced mode and only choose the IOS versions you mentioned, that will ensure everything else is still in place.

As a final note, the Decaffeinator will automatically take you to the system settings to immediately update, but in my experience that always yields a message saying you're already up to date. I found just shutting down the console and turning it back on to do the update worked much better. Good luck.
