This thread is a great reminder that there's no hate like Christian love.

In the US, we've been living in the era of fake Christians using the religion as cover for their evil deeds for at least fifty years now.Maybe this is for the better. Stay safe, guys - we live in very interesting times.

You can quote the Bible at me all you like, the protesters violated the FACE act at minimum. It doesn’t matter what you think about Christians, it’s illegal to interrupt church proceedings in this manner. “Use of force or threat of force or physical obstruction to intentionally injure, intimidate, or interfere with or attempt to injure, intimidate, or interfere with any person lawfully exercising or seeking to exercise the First Amendment right of religious freedom at a place of religious worship” is very clear. As for the KKK act, denying “any of the rights, privileges, or immunities, or protection, named in the Constitution” encompasses the right to exercise religion. They shouldn’t have done that. The DOJ actually has pretty solid grounds to press federal charges, even if ultimately nothing comes of it. It’s an unnecessary legal kerfuffle that could’ve been avoided if the protest just took place outside without obstructing worship. In the US, we've been living in the era of fake Christians using the religion as cover for their evil deeds for at least fifty years now.
“‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God." - Leviticus 19:33-34

If Donald Trump wasn't considered above the law, none of this would be happening; there would be no need to protest his personal gestapo because he'd be behind bars. Nor would the feds be shielding Johnathan Ross from prosecution for murder.I happen to agree with you about the 'fake Christian' thing. But whether they're fake or not doesn't change that the disruptors (I won't call them protestors) knew they were interfering with a religious service. And there's a law about that. And nobody's above the law, right?

As far as first amendment rights go, I don't believe freedom of religion should override freedom of protest. It's ridiculous to pretend that laws are still being enforced equally or justly, or that lawfulness is a measure of morality in these unprecedented times.

And I'm all for peace as long as its being enforced on both the state and federal level. When the "peacekeepers" turn violent and begin shooting women and gassing children, however, the lines start to blur. The people responsible for committing such atrocities shouldn't be allowed to blend back in to civilized society like nothing happened. Willing to bet that a lot of worshipers at that church had no idea their pastor was ICE until this protest happened. Both "Amendments" are correct. In the freedom of protest it says the word "Peaceful". Meaning that both can be applied, but "Peacefully [non-violent]" done.js.

What's wrong with the quote? This is very off-topic but I'm curious, are you implying Christians don't believe in it and we should be quoting the New Testament? It's the third book, it seems pretty widely regarded as canon.Leviticus is Old Testament. If you really want to take swipe at fake Christians for being hypocrites, at least know what part of the Bible to quote.
The old testament is..... inconvenient for them. They're happy enough to cherry-pick laws from it as justification for hate. If they find something else that they don't agree with, they disregard it as irrelevant. What's wrong with the quote? Unless it has to do with justifying hate, like the quote about men lying with other men. Then they're all OVER the old testament.I'm not religious at all, but I was raised in a family that sure was. The Old Testament is God's covenant with the Jews. God's laws for the Jews. If you ask most Christian scholars (not "religious studies" academics, but serious believers) they'll tell you the rules of the Old Testament are full of wisdom, but they are not law to Christians. Jesus made a new deal with his Father on behalf of all humanity, not just Jews. That's why, for example, modern Christians basically ignore the Old Testament's prohibition on eating pork. Doesn't apply to them, they say (if they've bothered to think about it at all, which most haven't).
Yes, it's hogwash dogma. But many Christians do consider only the New Testament as the part that's actually binding on them.

”The protesters can commit civil rights violations because orange man is bad”?If Donald Trump wasn't considered above the law, none of this would be happening; there would be no need to protest his personal gestapo because he'd be behind bars. Nor would the feds be shielding Johnathan Ross from prosecution for murder.

Yeah, most modern Christians don't read the Old or New Testament, they just go on feels and most often align with the "wrathful" parts of the Old Testament rather than anything from the New. The same fundamental message of "love thy neighbor" is in both.Unless it has to do with justifying hate, like the quote about men lying with other men. Then they're all OVER the old testament.
"Murder doesn't justify even the tiniest bit of disorder/incivility"? If you wage war on a state in the US, you better be fucking thankful that all you got was some yelling in return.”The protesters can commit civil rights violations because orange man is bad”?
