A new system software update is available for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Released tonight is version 21.0.1, and there's actually more to the update than just stability. Including in the patch notes below is a fix for a specific error users might have been dealing with:

  • Fixed an issue where Error Code: 2011-0301 or Error Code: 2168-0002 would repeatedly occur on a Nintendo Switch when attempting a system transfer using local communication from a Nintendo Switch system to a Nintendo Switch 2 system.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.
As always, it's best to avoid updating your Nintendo Switch until other scene members have tested the update and datamined it. As for the Nintendo Switch 2 patch notes, those are listed below.

  • Fixed an issue where Error Code: 2011-0301 or Error Code: 2168-0002 would repeatedly occur on a Nintendo Switch when attempting a system transfer using local communication from a Nintendo Switch system to a Nintendo Switch 2 system.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes, after waking up the system from Sleep Mode or turning off Airplane Mode, wireless controllers or Bluetooth audio devices were unable to connect.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.

Did they fixed the third party dock problem with Switch 2?

Did they stop the horrendous practice of sabotaging Switch 2 customers' games in progress?

Going to update, thanks for the heads up. Though you guys completely missed mentioning 21.0.0 when that came out for whatever reason.

That first point has to do with compliance differences with certain third party products. The Nintendo Switch 2 USB protocol is slightly different from the Nintendo Switch's. So it's no surprise that some third party products behave weirdly if they even work at all. Majority of third party Switch docks aren't even certified for use with the system, meaning they aren't guaranteed to adhere to the USB standards of the Switch systems.

No idea on that second part.

21 broke most working dock including their own but it recovers with a restart. 3rd party needs a firmware update. Nintendo claimed that they did not do it on purpose.

Evil Nintendo would make you loose game progress if you happen to go to home and want back into the game. They put a default button that will restart the console which means your unsaved progress is lost. Have you not seen that, there were already many updates and the update firmware dialogue only appears when you want to play game. If you want to visit eshop they are all too happy to delay the firmware update.
