I tested the USA version with RetroArch 1.19.0.
I couldn't launch the game with the default core settings, but when I set the PSX cpu clock to 78 it ran without any issues.
Thank you for testing.. You wouldn't believe the rabbit hole I went down trying to understand why this game worked for me but not for someone else hahaha. Turns out there's a setting called "Use Fractal Framerate" it defaults to "AUTO" but I must have set it to "ON" in my setup it's good to know we can also adjust the CPU Clock to 78 to get the game running too, thank you
So in future if anyone gets a PS1 game that just blacks screens on load, try messing with the Use Fractal Framerate option or adjust the Cpu Clock
I'm having problems with using .dat file for my mame roms. While trying to use arcade DAT file, I get the error "Selected arcade DAT files is too large / insufficient free memory"
I'm using "mame 2003" core and the xml file i'm trying to use is from it's libreto page

I had this issue, the way I got around it was to do the dat scan of your mame roms on PC RA then rename the paths from PC to WiiU in the playlist after.

It didn't work.
Playlists are basically identical as they both show links to the same file names of the mame games, so the playlist needs the arcade .dat file to translate those file names into regular names. So only thing that is different between PC playlist and WiiU playlist is the path to the arcade .dat file, as on Wii it didn't allow me to select it. So I've set path to that arcade .dat and still in wii it says insufficient memory when I try to rescan the mame playlist
What I did was move my roms to pc
Load up PC Retroarch and scan the roms + dat
Load up the created playlist in a txt editor, then use the replace all option to change all the PC rom paths to WiiU paths at once.
This worked for me.
If that doesn't work for you maybe this will work for you?
I recently put together a RetroArch Playlist Renamer & Path Fixer script that automates renaming playlists and their associated files, as well as fixing ROM file paths when transferring from PC to Wii U. If you've ever struggled with managing your playlists or moving them over correctly, this tool should make things a lot easier! Very useful for creating playlists on your PC and then transferring over as the Wii U scans files very slowly and will struggle to handle large collections. Renaming is also an easy way to change the order the systems appear in!

I haven't used this myself so I dunno if it will be of use to you.
I don't know if it was asked before: I'm searching for shaders and have found 4yo YT video that says shaders on wiiu RA are pain and not worthy
Has anything changed meanwhile? I see on retrogames corp that Russ uses shaders on those low end devices so I'm suprised that shaders on Wiiu would have problems?
Also in only searchingfor GB shaders as I want to get that authentic feeling od GB.
And when we are on the topic, are there overlays for GB, SNes i Sega MD, for covering screens black sidebars
Also, on topic of my previous problems with playlists and arcade .dat/xml file being to big, yea, everything works: I've created a playlist on my pc using original arcade.dat file, and then just mass renamed paths to match those of playlist fromm wiiu RA, copied it to wiiu RA playlist folder and everything works
The Aroma Port that has been in limbo for the last year due to the issue with slow Core loading/Rom loading has been fixed thanks to a new Aroma CFW update
This means Retroarch on Aroma is now back on the table! I tried a bunch of the Core's I compiled last year and they seem to run fine and Core swap as they're supposed to. heh
Downside is Core's that require Jit such as PS1 and Picodrive will have to be reworked to work properly with Aroma but the rest should work fine (SEE EDIT BELOW)
Vid of Aroma RA in action...
Here's a full Retroarch package with Cores and a Retroarch wuhb file so you can have a Retroarch icon to launch from the Home Menu!
Don't mix Tiramisu Retroarch Cores with Aroma ones and don't attempt to update your Cores through Retroarch... Your asking for trouble if you do
Best to rename your current Retroarch folder if you have one, the link I've posted has the Retroarch folder all setup so its just a straight extract to SD root, insert sd, load Aroma then load the Retroarch icon (white instead of black)
Try it and post any issues you have and remember this is a test build
EDIT: Thanks to the work of @Vague Rant we now have working Pcsxreamed and Picodrive Aroma Cores!!! (included in the link)
EDIT2: If your getting audio issues with the PS1 Core do this:
Go into the RA Settings and change the Audio Driver to Axpro
Change the audio Sample Rate to 44100
Load a PS1 game and save a Core Override (in the In-Game Menu) this will save you having to keep changing the Audio Driver/Sample Rate everytime
Audio issues should be fixed!
EDIT 3: A new and improved build is available that adds....
More cores have been added, we should be pretty close if not the same as Tiramisu in terms of core compatibility. Thanks to Vague Rant, Maschell, QuarkTheAwesome
PS1 Core should have another perf bump too, with extra threading additions to the ingame options menu. Thanks to vrda
We now have the ability to open the WiiU Menu and close Retroarch with the Home button. Just like an official app Thanks to Maschell
Added ability to use Threaded Video.. Option added to Video/Output Setting. Thanks to vrda
RA's Assets (which was the cause of the slow loading) is now built into the Retroarch wuhb, so it doesn't have to read it each time you switch Core/load rom, that helps loading speeds massively!
Sorry if someone has had this issue and it's been resolved already, but i'm having issues with retroarch detecting my USB hard drive. It's connected to the back ports with a y-cable and is formatted using the stroopwafel plugin so that there are two partions, the first being a FAT-32 partion (for both my roms and Wii games) and the second being a WiiU storage partion. Retroarch cannot seem to detect the FAT-32 partition that has my roms in it, and can only detect the SD card (which has my WiiU CFW setup and redNAND as the NAND is bust). I can only access the directory fs:/vol/external01, and when attempting to acess the parent directory I get a "Directory not Found" error.
It's too slow with DS games, but very great for GBA games, isn't it?
For the moment, DS game injection is the only mean with Aroma environnement for a good experiment, no?
Edit : I'm testing a Nintendo DS game and I'm impressive, it's 60 fps with the last version of NooDS !
Many others games work slowly...
Aroma environnement doesn't have a ppsspp core, I don't remember why, but there is a reason....
In legacy environnement there is a ppsspp core in RetroArch, some games are playable! ^^.
Not a major issue, but it appears the options for Menu Music and Sounds don't actually work in any versions of RetroArch. I was hoping to add some custom music, but not even the default bgm.ogg file works. Has anyone gotten RA Menu Music to work on either Aroma or Tiramisu versions?
