EZ Flash Jr save question for owners

I need help from anyone who has an EZ Flash JR on hand: does it really require waiting 10-15 secs after saving before powering off?

There's so much conflicting info out there, I see videos and comments showing it saves normally, but others saying it needs to wait after saving before power off. As far as I can tell this should only be an issue on the Omega (non-DE) since it's the only model that saves directly to the SD card, whereas the JR uses SRAM (just like an everdrive) and only writes the save to the SD on menu boot. As long as there's battery in the cart, in theory it should not require waiting before powering off. I can't tell if this is incorrect information about a different EZ Flash model that's just being bounced around in the echo chamber of the online gameboy community (which often get lots of basic info wrong). I'd prefer to base my purchase decision off a real hard test and not just hearsay, so:

If anyone has an EZ Flash JR on hand, with a fresh battery in it: can you please check if you can power off immediately after saving, and still have the save be there afterward?

I've been using an EDGB clone, but from my battery life tests it only gives me 40% of the battery life of a legit/repro cart, so I'm looking to upgrade, but want to avoid spending more than I have to (and an everdrive X5 is like double the price of a JR). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This advice is for the EZ Flash Omega, not the Jr. You don't have to do this waiting thing.

The battery life of the EZ Flash Jr is comparable or worse than EDGB clones. Don't get one for this reason.

Based off your recommendation I guess I'll be waiting for the Black Friday everdrive sale, and will just have to live with the bad battery life until then.

I would honestly recommend getting a Geek Simon MBCX 32MB cartridge and a GBFlash writer you can put a few games on it,it also includes RTC for pokemon games, I have 14 games on one of mine and 8 on the other, it has almost the same battery drain as a standard DIY MBC3 cartridge and is much cheaper

About 20% more drain, apparently. A DIY MBC3 (or MBC30) doesn't have an Altera to power, but it's not as cheap because you need to source donor carts and compatible flash ROM ICs (getting harder to find).

Multirom support and FRAM are nice extras, though.

The sram is the official version, and the psram is the modified power sucking version, right? So the parameters only goes down in terms of battery life? I want to be sure of what I’m reading when it comes to the Ezfj. I need an rtc cart. That was the best one?

Correct me if I did anything wrong. I ended up ordering a 2 piece set of 3.6v rechargeable batteries and a charger that fit the gb jr cartridge.

They were found as “lir1220” and “button cell charger fits 1220”. Now, I know the gb jr batteries are classified as 3v, and the charger states they are 4.2v topped. Will there be a massive downside, like I blow a fuse out or something?

I’m a newb to electronics, I can solder to repair, but I’ve only ever made one circuit and while reading spec sheets, I know there are voltage input ranges. Did I mess up or is this good to go based on anyone’s experience? I thought since it didn’t quite reach five volts that it would be good.
