I haven't used my PS Vita in a while (a few months maybe?) but yesterday when I tried booting it up, it froze a few seconds after starting. I managed to get to the LiveArea, but it seems to be more of a time issue than a "freezes on LiveArea" issue, since sometimes if I take too long in the opening paper thing, it freezes there.
This only happens when I try to launch the Vita normally, launching it while holding down L is fine, but I kinda can't really use it like that, also holding down PS + R works too, but again, same problem.
Also, taking out my SD2Vita SD Card/adapter makes it launch fine (but again, same issue.)

I'm trying out some things myself but figured I should make a post in case I don't manage to get it fixed myself, and if nothing else then it might help someone with the same problem in the future.

What I've tried so far:
Uninstalling all non-necessary plugins
Rebuild YAMT database
Checked and configured YAMT settings

I guess it is possible that I just didn't dig deep enough on these solutions, though I doubt it.

This literally happened to me today. I searched this up like just now because I thought maybe its a software issue or something I downloaded. But I was literally playing p4g yesterday and it was working fine.

Theres a thread on reddit. The issue is vitaDB. It should work if you turn your wifi off. The vitaDB github should have notes on the issue.
Theres like many threads on the same issue

Was VitaDB the only issue for you?
Because that wasn't enough for me.

I backed up all my saves and went nuclear, factory resetting my Vita and re-modding it. Now, whenever YAMT is enabled, no homebrew apps show up. It's still using HENkaku, and either disabled YAMT in storage devices, or simply taking out the SD2Vita makes it usable again, homebrew apps return and I can use them, but I don't have the space for anything...
I can access ux0 through VitaShell, though oddly, I can see and modify it without having the SD2Vita inside the Vita...

ux0 refers to the currently mounted storage, such as SD2Vita, PSVSD, Official Memory Card, or Internal Memory Card. YAMT lets you set this but it sounds like it's no longer pointing to your SD2Vita (as it couldn't when removed).Or there's an issue with the SD2Vita. If disabling YAMT makes your Homebrew show up, then it seems they're stored on an Official MC or Internal (hence very little space). VitaShell can mount other partitions and let you move stuff around.

The homebrew is in fact stored on the MC, since I have a PCH 2000. Do you reckon that there's an issue with the SD2Vita itself?

I believe your SD2Vita is fine, reason being that it shows nothing. Had it not loaded at all, YAMT would probably default to something else as if it weren't present at all, if that makes sense. In YAMT, if you set MC as ux0 and SD2vita as UMA, you can see it in Vitashell, right? Copy your /apps and /appmeta folders to the SD2Vita. Then switch ux0 to SD2Vita. Then force a Database rebuild (Hold Power for 30 seconds is one way to access Safe Mode). Everything should show up,

No, if I do this then none of my homebrew apps show up at all, that's what makes me so confused.
If I do anything at all that should make my vita use YAMT/SD2Vita then homebrew apps just simply don't show up, and if I either launch it without the SD2Vita, or without YAMT enabled, then yes my homebrew apps do show up, but I'm so limited on space that I might as well just not bother

Thank you for sharing this. I've deleted all VitaDB related files and the Vita stopped freezing.

Hey there, check out this thread:

I was having the same problem. The EXACT same problem.

The Good News: It's not your Vita (hardware), it's something related to the hack itself.
The Bad News: I ended up having to uninstall & reinstall the hack, but lost all the info on the card.

Forum user NostalgicMillennial was also having the same exact problem (what the hell's going on here?). Worst comes to worse, you'll loose all your info but you'll have a spanking new Vita.

Perhaps you can find better advice, but I'm just chiming in to let you know that your hardware is not to blame.

:)

"What the hell is going on here" is right! Is there something in the air with SD2Vita Vita cards dying??

My card was corrupted but not to the point of losing my data.
