Microsoft will raise the price of Xbox consoles in the US yet again
Starting next month, Microsoft will once again raise the prices of all Xbox consoles in the United States.
After the turmoil that has been this year in terms of raising prices worldwide, tariffs, production costs and importation taxes, many countries have suffered from elevated prices for many things, be it the most basic necessity items, like edibles or clothing, to more luxurious items, like electronics, and in this case, videogames.
Back in May, 2025, Microsoft (alongside Sony and Nintendo) announced that they would be increasing the prices for Xbox consoles, accesories and games, with the standard Xbox Series S console going up from $300 USD up to $380 USD, and from $500 to $600 for the Xbox Series X standard model. Starting October 3rd, that price will be increased yet again, with the Xbox Series S going up from the previous $380 USD price rounded up to $400, and the Xbox Series X going up to $650 USD from the previous $600 price from back in May, with Microsoft citing the reason behind the price hike due to "changes in the macroeconomic environment".
Given how other countries in the American continent rely on imports from within the US, it's likely that this decision will also affect other countries, be it in North America and Latin America as well.
