Hello!
I recently revived my PS2 by buying a MX4SIO, but then I realized I had one of these "special" PS2s that doesn't work straightforward with Free MC Boot, these where you need to enter to the Memory Card in Browser and then go back again so it finally boots FMCB. So, I followed a few tutorials (in spanish), put some games in the MicroSD, tested the first game (Guitar Hero 5) and voilá, everything worked!
But then, I decided to test another game so I restarted the console, and when I used the method I just mentioned, nothing happened, the main PS2 boot menu is still the same as ever.
Since then my DVD with uLaunchELF is always on the PS2 and I use it to boot OPL through the Memory Card and load games in MX4SIO. With this I can at least confirm that even though Free MC Boot stopped working, Open PS2 Loader .ELF still work with no problem while being installed in the Memory Card.
I wonder if there is any fix for this or I missed a step when installing FMCB? Or am I destined to always use uLaunchELF in order to load OPL?
If it's any useful: my PS2 is a SCPH-90010 with 2.00 bios version, and it doesn't have a date code.

Did you save the game to the FMCB memory card? Because if yes you "broke" the formatting of the card necessary to execute the payload.
If so you should simply be able to reflash the thing and it should work again, and then just make sure you save your games to a different memory card.

Yes, I saved the game in that same Memory Card where FMCB is installed since it's the only one I have.
I guess I will have to buy another MC. Thank you so much for the help!

Well if you can still launch into uLaunch.elf you should be able to repair it by following a guide to make your own, but yes, you will need a second memory card in general to actually be able to save your games. So, pick the way that is more comfortable to you.

Also if you do want to use the initial FMCB memory card for savegames you will have to properly reformat it, just to make sure everything saves properly to it. You can do that via the uninstall option in the FMCB installer, just be sure you pick the right memory card to uninstall from.
