Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 firmware update 20.4.0 released

switch12.png

Both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 have received an official firmware update. System software version 20.4.0 has rolled out to consoles, and you'll never guess what Nintendo tweaked with this brand new update: "General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience." Scene dataminer OatmealDome looked into the new firmware, and discovered that for the Switch 1, the web browser was updated, alongside the controller-handling code, while the changes for the Switch 2's firmware are a bit more unclear. Currently, Nintendo's website only shows the update having released for those with Japanese consoles.

Can't wait for my dead grandma accidentally updated my Switch replies
My living grandfather (the green beret) would be fast to ask why you have such a slow-witted comment.

Speaking of dead, when will we get the Nintendo switch 3?

👀 Version 20.4.0 sounds like a significant milestone. Can’t wait to see if there are hidden features or quality-of-life improvements waiting to be discovered. 🔍🚀

Does atmosphere work on this or do we need to wait for an update?
NO, you always have to wait for a upgraded Atmosphère, sometimes is so simple as add the version number but sometimes Michael needs to make lots of changes.

I just downloaded the 20.4.0 firmware, It uses the existing keys so no new PickLock is needed.

Sigpatches and SYS-Patch Sysmodule are the same so current versions works fine.

Bootlogos are exactly the same set of patches so no need to rebuild new ones.

@JK_ 's PNGShot will work fine because no new patches are needed.

NXThemesInstaller do not need to download new set of patches.

So we need just to wait for new Atmosphère and Hekate for update.

No news on https://switchbrew.org/wiki/FirmwareNews about the 20.4.0 firmware so we do not know yet which changes are included.

@impeeza that's what i wrote in the previous post.
I didn't see it sorry.

Wow! Another boring update!
For me personally, the most exciting update they gave us for Switch enabled Bluetooth audio. Nothing else was memorable, and just anti-homebrew/anti-piracy updates to keep breaking Atmosphere.
