Analogue has announced that they have delayed their previous delay of the shipment date for the Analogue 3D console. The first delay, announced in July, was a result of recent tariff concerns, but this push back was not given a specific reason, citing "unexpected, uncommon" issues. Currently, the new shipping date for the hardware is Q4 2025. When it does eventually launch, the Analogue 3D aims to be an FPGA system that offers 100% compatibility with the Nintendo 64 library, offering Bluetooth controller support and HDMI output.

I thought Mister just didn't quite have enough memory or processing power or whatever to run all games 100% accurately, with there being a handful of games that required just a little more specs on Mister. The Cyclone 10 GX is significantly more powerful than the DE10-Nano, so those issues on Mister with just a few games won't be a problem on the Analogue 3D. If Mister 2 is ever produced for the Cyclone 10 GX one day then it will run all games perfectly too, but the Cyclone 10 GX costs more than the Analogue 3D does. Analogue must be getting a bulk discount.

The Polymega was originally supposed to be somewhat like this. Then they announced that they'd be ditching the FPGA and just went with plain ol' x86-64 software emulation for the finished product.

The N64 cores on Mister are pushing what the Cyclone V can reasonably pull off. The fact that they've gone anywhere has been a pretty excellent surprise.

The thing you have to remember is that the reason the Cyclone V has been the FPGA chip of choice is that the price for performance has remained reasonable. Like even after the DE-10 Nano got expensive, it's still quite a bit more accessible than the ~$500 or higher boards that would constitute a meaningful upgrade. And hopefully the MisterPI gets another batch at some point so that myself and others don't have to pay the Terasic premium to get into this.

I can't believe nobody has cancelled and yet I've never seen the Analogue 3D come 'back into stock' (if that can arguably be shown as not a joke) - one would presume they have been manufacturing them (if they have actually got that far) on the basis of how many pre-orders they originally had. I've got to think at least 20% may have backed out after all of these delays?

I use retrofighters its good but only downfall is for wireless your rumble/memory port is in the controller port and your controller has nothing.

So if like me you have a multi memory card and need to switch between its card banks, you've got to keep getting up to the console to press its button.

People are used to it by now, they know Analogue will deliver a great product in the end even if it takes them years. And realistically, they're never going to be in stock so cancelling now means not getting one at all, or you'll just have to preorder again and wait yet longer. If you really want one, there's no other choice than putting up with the wait.

ModRetro doesn't have that much history, but if we go by the Chromatic then chances are the M64 won't have ROM loading either. For anybody that wants that, Analogue is the safer bet since they historically have had jailbreak firmware available.

Well i have a real N64 with RAM expansion and i still prefer to play on a emulator ... Its just so more convenient to have all my retro games on a single machine than having to connect a system just to play a quick session of Mario Kart 64 or any other game and/or system.

In fact i'm thinking on selling all my retro collection up to and including GameCube/Xbox/PS2 .

All this to say that buying a FPGA machine that does not run all systems its still a hassle.

I heard from a friend that's a huge Analog enthusiast before the Pocket came out that they were gonna do it on the Pocket because it's what they did before, at least on their prior system. For many years, N64 emulation was a quagmire of juggling plugins. Even now there's a few picky games that take extra fiddling to run acceptably (I believe 64DD support isn't perfected yet).
