growing up it was never a thing . then you see people from America talk about it then its all over the show . i take it it comes from democrat vs republican? the few things i want to understand
1) with what's going on in the UK\Europe with the migrant crisis if any of them kill \ or do something bad to kids . and you get upset over it and say its wrong and more should of been done to vetting the migrant . the left call you far right ! why is that ?
2)is there even a middle group or is it just left and right?
3) is there a place that the groups get together and talk with out it getting crazy ?
4) what makes you left\far left and right/far rite ?
i just find it all crazy no matter what you say or do you get labelled to one of the groups . like even this post am 2 minds about it . if i ask anything in the streets some crazy person going to go after me instead of . o no its a big misunderstanding we find it wrong as well but we think that side is going the wrong way about it .. like in south park bloods vs crips can we not just get along ? if not just delete this post

Polarization is baked into the American electoral framework. While the particular details have shifted over time (like the decline of the Whigs), at any moment there's precisely two relevant political parties. In most public offices, it's rare for a third-party candidate to entice more than a statistically-negligible number of voters.

like with Elon Musk i know he was talking about making a new party .i take it if he did some how get in and win they would still some how make it republican? a new part with new laws could mess things up ? they say republican is far write ? is that true ? of can you be left and republican?

Tl;dr: if you're not from the usa, don't worry about it.

1) if someone does something wrong, punish THAT person. You wouldn't want to be looked at weird when someone does someone with your color once did something wrong to someone else.
There are problems with migration, but the right tend to oversimplify those in order for their solutions.
2) in us politics? Nope. Trump labels everyone disagreeong with him as elite extreme ultra leftist, and his flock follow without thinking.
In Europe, we have gradations. That's the advantage of having multiple political parties.
3) less and less. Media has abandoned neutrality, which is reflected on social media.
4) why, your political stance, of course. Just try having an opinion and someone will label you. Free service of the internet. :p

Left wing and right wing are two different ways of thinking about how society should work.

The left wing believes in helping people and making things fair for everyone. They think the government should make sure people have healthcare, good schools, and equal rights no matter who they are. They want to protect the environment and make sure workers are treated well.

The right wing believes more in keeping things the way they are or going back to how things used to be. They often think people should take care of themselves without too much government help. Some right-wing ideas support bad things like taking land from other countries (colonialism) or forcing people to work as slaves. Today, some right-wing ideas still are unfair by making life harder for poor people, immigrants, or minorities.

The problem with some right-wing thinking is that it sometimes doesn't care enough about how others feel. While left-wing ideas try to help everyone, some right-wing ideas focus more on keeping power and tradition, even if it hurts people. As in keep the power structure the same, with rich white people on top.

That's why many people think left-wing ideas are better for progressing society.

The core of the left vs the right is empathy. The left values empathy, which is why they push for policies based around equity. The rich get taxed, countries who get invaded receive support, immigrants receive benefits, and healthcare is available for all. It's all based around the common good.

The right thinks empathy is the devil. Literally; they will teach that empathy is a sin and the opposite of what Jesus wanted (which is completely warped). They believe that the only things you should be looking out for are yourself and your family, and that means seeing everyone else not as your fellow man, but as a potential threat to your prosperity. The more you trod on the homeless, the poor, and the weak, the more benefits you can claim for yourself.

Individualism is king, and unfortunately, this mindset leads to selfish policies that benefit them, and only them, because they see this as a competition. Don't like what they're doing? Well, pull yourself up by your bootstraps and get on their level. If you can somehow beat the system they've challenged you with, you're worthy of joining them on their neverending quest of conquering the rest of the world. Manifest Destiny.

I do want to note, in the US, there is no "Left wing". Democrats and Republicans are both on the Right, with Democrats only being slightly left of the Republicans. People misuse a lot of these terms because, at this point, anything short of hunting the homeless for sport is consider "Far Left"

agreed, why ableism and abuse is so common too…

You don’t get rich without exploiting people

A lot of societies deeper problems require naunce and empathy to beat so with psychopaths leading us we won’t ever get there

Left Wing of Politics:
The left wing of politics generally emphasizes social equality, government intervention in the economy to promote welfare, and progressive reforms aimed at reducing economic and social disparities. Left-wing ideologies often support higher taxation on the wealthy to fund public services like healthcare, education, and social security. They tend to advocate for workers’ rights, environmental protection, and policies that support marginalized or disadvantaged groups. Social progressivism—such as support for LGBTQ+ rights, racial justice, and gender equality—is also a hallmark of left-wing politics. Overall, the left values collective responsibility and believes that government should play an active role in creating a fairer society.

Right Wing of Politics:
The right wing of politics typically emphasizes individual liberty, free-market capitalism, limited government intervention, and the preservation of traditional social values. Right-wing ideologies often support lower taxes, reduced government spending, and deregulation to encourage personal initiative and economic growth. Culturally, the right tends to favor maintaining established institutions and norms, often promoting national identity, law and order, and family values. While economic conservatives prioritize fiscal responsibility and private enterprise, social conservatives focus on protecting what they see as time-tested moral and cultural frameworks. Overall, the right values personal responsibility and believes that society functions best when individuals are free to pursue their own goals with minimal government interference.

And yet look at how they treat the LGBTQ

Then the blue states should stop subsiding them 😎

I know you're just posting a summary, this isn't a direct response to you

1 there has been significant polarization due to echo chambers created online based on engagement algorithms that have created a false dichotomy
2 there is a middle ground, but fewer and fewer people are there owing to point 1
3 discourse between people this radicalized is not possible - sane people exist (see point 2) but mostly they have given up discourse owing to point 1
4 see above points. You decide your own place - and if you disagree with both extreme ends of the spectrum you will be simultaneously called far left and far right by different groups

We're cooked, eventually one side will win and we'll get censored Internet and news like in China and we can at least have a false sense of state sponsored unity

May the best dictator win

Love people? Left.
Hate people? Right.

That's a vast oversimplication of it, but fairly accurate.

The left are humanitarian, and care about ALL people, building them up and helping the poor where and when they can.

The right only care about themselves, billionaires, and hurting the poor, kicking them while they're down.

Which one are you, OP?

The political compass exists for a reason, and even then it's flawed, like a lot of social categorization systems

The thing about politics is that unless you self-label or someone is very radical, things become very messy and require a certain amount of nuance to understand what actually constitutes the political beliefs of a person, because in a sense, everything is political

Do you believe people should be free? That's political
Do you believe nobody should die of hunger? That's political
Do you believe everyone should be able to have an access to necessary medical treatments? Political

So, because politics are inherent to the way we as a society and as individuals believe how the world is or should be like, the more you look into it the more you find actually describing your politics accurately would end in a big paragraph of information. So, we decided on tendency what to describe as right and left leaning and we went from there, it's just easier

Doesn't help there is a tendency to confuse terms (liberal with left leaning, fascist with authoritarian, neo-liberal with liberal even), so we end with a system where your biggest most sentimental social democrat human's rights activist is on the same side of a Stalinist

*Comrade Stalin enters the chat*

The truth is both sides have seen major abuses perpetrated in the world when talking about far left and far right

Now in the US I would argue the far left barely even exist as a real political entity - so you are comparing moderate left with far right

But take a place like Ireland for example where left and right are both close to center and both sides look much more reasonable

I think the problem with the right wing thinking is they want a government that doesn't govern, yet they still choose to participate in voting/running for their government.
