The terrain generation takes up most of the dev time at least in the early stages. Next will be the controls. Then finally the score and collision detection. I do the landscape first because that is what the player sees most of the time. It's the play space and it needs to run at 60fps. I tend to like long draw distances and clean lines.

Looks like you are working on newo zero 2 or will you add the new tracks as another cup in the first game? Looks promising

This is a separate game. NZ's tracks are overlapping which this engine cannot handle. This is more of a Outrun kinda vibe.

I will add more tracks to NZ in a separate update. Though NZ has a master cup which has random tracks every time you race so it really doesn't need anymore tracks added.

This thread is awesome. The Your Newo games are some of my favorite homebrew games for the Wii, if not ever. I love the aesthetics and the deliberate design around the console's identifying features, like motion control. You're a Homebrew Hero!

Thank you. I try to make these little games when I can. Hopefully it will encourage more people to code and make stuff!

This is a old build. I had to recode most of it so that I could have more trees in the back ground. eventually I will be able to recreate this

NewoZero a Wii homebrew game that was previously released
Ah gotcha. It was challenging at the hard course at least. But I played it in first person view without mini map to get the full immersion. It has the blade runner vibe that way, but the curves are not always visible. Just wondered if you will release some new tracks in the future? Great game

First person is the hardest way to play apart from motion controls.

I added a master and arcade mode in the latest version 4.16. I am not sure which version you are on.. I have not been inspired to create any new tracks lately, maybe after I finish this game I will go back and add some more difficulty modes to NZ.

16 tracks per difficulty seems to be the right amount for beating the game in one sitting. I could go to 18 but that might be too much and people might give up before they reach the end. Balance is important even in a simple racer.

Debugging some stuff

There is a lot of testing involved in making games. here I set everything to blue so I can check for overlaps. The space in this game is not "real", meaning that you can go left for 500 miles and never return to the same spot. #wii #homebrew #lowploy

Got distracted and worked on NZ a little

Anyone up for beta testing new build of NewoZero? I am working on a new graphics optimizations and I want to ensure that every thing still runs at 60fps on the most complex levels.
