Pokemon Presents July 2025 - Pokemon Legends Z-A gets new trailer, Mega Dragonite revealed

The Pokemon Company has a 24-minute briefing on news and reveals for the Pokemon franchise. All the announcements have been summarized here.

The first announcement is that the Pokemon World Championships will be taking place in Anaheim, California this year. There will be an exclusive card given away, and a Toedscool event.

Pokemon Concierge is next up. New episodes will be on Netflix on September 4th.

Aardman animation studio discusses its upcoming stop motion animation project. Titled Pokemon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd and Pichu, it'll be out sometime in 2027.

Pokepark Kanto is an outdoor attraction in Tokyo. It'll be opening soon. The goal is to broaden fans' ideas on how Pokemon interact with each other. The park will be split into two sections--one is a town, and the other is a forest where all the Pokemon live. It will open next year.

Pokemon Go Fest 2025: Max Finale is taking place this year.

Carmine & Sinistcha are being added to Pokemon Masters EX.

Lapras is getting a new outfit tomorrow, and Alolan Meowth, Totodile, and Minccino will get pirate outfits too, in Pokemon Cafe Remix.

Pokemon Sleep is adding Amber Canyon.

Pokemon Unite is getting Latios and Latias. Electrode Volleyball is a new mode coming to the game.

The Pokemon TCG is getting the Mega Evolution expansion on September 26.

Pokemon Friends is a new puzzle game for phones. Every day you solve a puzzle you unlock a plushie that you can decorate in your virtual room. Available today.

Scarlet and Violet are teasing a new Tera Raid tomorrow. Players will need to win these raids a million times together in order to catch the Pokemon in the raids.

Pokemon Champions will have a ranked mode, and private matches. There will be a mode that allows you to edit their EVs and attacks. It'll release next year.

Pokemon Legends Z-A caps off the broadcast. We get a new trailer showing the characters and Pokemon available. Mega Dragonite is a new form shown off. During the day, you can catch Pokemon, and at night, trainers will fight you. There's tons of new clothes and hairstyles. There's sidequests you can do. Pokemon are Mega Evolving on their own and out of control, and you'll have to fight them as bosses. Launches October 16.

Took an actually good look at Mega Dragonite... wow it really looks like a Pokemon OC from the 2000s, and that's literally the only good thing I can say about it without lying.

Also in other news the batteries of my Gameboy and GBC Pokemon games are dead, although I think the GBA games saves still work with dead batteries?

Good thing I made backup the saves with a DS flashcard, Godmode and a fat DS.

After playing Palworld and Miraibo GO for a short period. It displayed how lazy gamefreak is and how a Pokemon game could look and play, if they made an effort.
I'm also looking forward for Aniimo

dragonite getting a mega evolution? about goddamn time.. tho it looks kinda ugly. why does it have new wings (on its head) when it already had a pair of wings? also should've been blue, a throw back to its first 2 evos, also it'd look hella better imho

that said, the audio volume is all over the place, it goes up and down to barely audible.. looks like someone forgot to normalize like the whole freakin thing?

I'm somewhat underwhelmed by the "mega" dragonite. Just a pair of fluffy wings placed awkwardly on its head? Wow...

I guess they are trying to double down on their "terra" (sorry, can't remember the full name) form thingy from violet/scarlet that had an assortment of things sprouting out of their heads as well.

Wait til you find out where Nintendo and GameFreak is from
Wait till you find out that they have different broadcasts specifically tailored for each region, so they could’ve easily omitted the bit about the PokéPark in every other country since it wasn’t relevant to them.

I'm really surprised why they even bothered to do this. This broadcast was announced back in May. Did they run into delays so bad on multiple projects in the interim that they had literally nothing to tease, or to show? Not even a logo.jpg? Surely, certainly, the entirety of TPC had to know how bad this looked to everyone? Why even discuss the theme park when it clearly is so horrific looking with zero plans or even renders? Even what we saw of Champions was no different than the reveal trailer...yikes

Most people online seems to think that. It either looks like a Pokemon OCs from the 2000s or AI generated, the fact they didn't even bother to color match doesn't help.
To be fair, they did scrap a Flying Eeveelution concept because it was too close to a fan drawing that may or may not end up in a non-Pokemon/Nintendo game. I would not be surprised if all of the "better" Mega Dragonite ideas were already taken by random people of varying litigiousness. (And don't lie. We all know there are people who would sue The Pokemon Company and Game Freak if given half the chance and legal justification to do so.)

Funny enough, I still remember the people who were "disappointed" by Dudunsparce because they were expecting something from a random fangame. Even when that fangame (and plenty of other fangames, really) completely missed the whole inspiration with Dunsparce (a weak, little creature that's so rare that it's considered "good luck" if you come across one). If you ask me, there's no better evolution for Dunsparce than one that follows up on the joke (and pokes fun at those that expect "good luck" to lead to inheriting "The Destroyer of Worlds" without having to actually work for it).

(Edit: Besides, if PvP shows up as an option in Legends Z-A, competitive players aren't going to care one bit about Mega Dragonite's looks if its ability, stats, and moveset put it high on the tier list - especially if Rayquaza decides to not butt in again. Seriously, when it comes to the competitive scene, you could have a Legendary that's as ugly as Sin itself, yet people will still use it if it's undisputedly the best Pokemon competitively - to the point that every Legendary spammer in Pokemon Showdown would have at least one on their team.)

Honestly I kept hearin' somethin' that this would be the longest Presents since the last long one in like 2023 and that was a freakin' lie because it was what 23 minutes?

Also the fact that Pokemon Friends was the only """""big"""""" thing is absolutely insane. Dude, we could get a PMD Sky remake or something in the interim but no, can't even put that much effort eh? I really liked the Rescue Team PMD remake.

I'm enjoying Ultra Sun right now, and am in post game and might finish Let's Go Pikachu soon too. And honestly while I enjoyed everything after Let's Go... I feel like S/M, Ultra S/M and Let's Go were kinda peak before things went down hill. Sword I had fun with, BD, Scarlet, etc. but it's so shameful how these games keep goin' down hill. Scarlet was peak for the endgame tho. Best one IMO.
But again, we're gettin' mobile crap, live events that most people can't go to for many reasons, stupid crap that could've been an email (like the last one having latin-spanish translations now??? bro what thats not something to show in a showcase) and like a shot of a game coming out (in this case Legends Z-A)

Ah well. I'll keep playing older pokemon games and probably get Z-A used at some point. Y'know theres gonna be used copies floating out there by christmas time.

Edit: Forgot to mention people huffing cop-/hop-ium for XY/BW remakes and I'm just laughin' my ass off

One concern I have is the technical performance. We all saw the embarrassing launch that was violet/scarlet. I wonder if the lack of anything meaningful to show is due to ZA being in a poor technical state and that they are still scrambling to fix it.
