So many patched IOSes, and also outdated d2x. Maybe something with that?

Can you send a picture of the crash dump?
Also, as a quick test, can you check for & delete /wad/wm_config.txt ? I need to dig in to that file someday

Unlikely, it should just run via IOS58 with ahbprot meta.xml args from HBC. I'm guessing something about the info gathering of region info at startup, but I don't know.

I've noted it and will see if I can get smarter eyes on it eventually. I may circle back to u (Father Jack) for more info or testing. In the meantime u can use mmm some yawm mod in place of yawmm, just be careful cuz only yawmme can retain priiloader when installing a new system menu, and some tools won't have any protection in place stopping u from doing something silly like uninstalling a critical file

Edit: I see Naim is already on the case, sweet!

here it is:
;Config file format
;
; wm_config.txt resides in sd:/wad, and it is optional. You will get all the
; prompts if you don't have this file.
; The param keywords are case-sensitive at this point.
; No spaces precede the keyword on a line
; If you don't have a password in the config file, the default is no password
; If you don't have a startupPath, the default is /wad
; If you don't have any of the other parameters, it will prompt you for it
; To bypass any of the params, just comment out the line using a ";" at the beginning of the line
; Blank lines are ignored.
;
; Password=your_password (LRUD only, where L=left, R=right, U=up, D=down on the
; WiiMote or GC Controller, max 10 characters)
; StartupPath=startupPath (starting at the root dir "/"). Be sure that the path exists,
; else you will get an error.
;

; StartupPath:
StartupPath=/wad

; cIOS: 249, 222, whatever
cIOSVersion=250

; FatDevice: sd usb usb2 gcsda gcsdb
FatDevice=sd

; NANDDevice: Disable SD USB
; Note that WM will prompt for NAND device only if you selected cIOS=249
NANDDevice=Disable

; Disclaimer: 0 or 1. Default is 1
;
Disclaimer=0

; Music: 0 or 1. Default is 1
Music=0

I was using wad manager 1.7 wiininja mod forever without a problem.
it was probably the veeery old cIOS 250 I had left on there based on waninkoko v14 I had left on required for Leiji Loader app (great homebrew at the time) :)

I use the modmii to mod my wii, everything is OK, the
only problem is I can not follow the guide to use the yawmME to install wad file, so I use the YAWMM to install the wad files.

Attached is the video for your reference ...

Exactly same problem here.

Recently decided to remod my wii, which was modded years ago by some local vendor. Everything works fine till yamnME can't detect the system region. Konami code couldn't solve it either.

Thanks a lot to @peipei_02: it was very helpful to know that YAWMM would work.

However, even after all the IOSs were successfully updated or stubbed, the problem still exists. The app RegionChecker can't determine the machine's region as well.

One suspicion for the root cause could be some unknown remnants from the old mods that I didn't manage to fully erase.

But I only found a few cases addressing the same problem like this thread: [yawm-couldnt-find-the-region-of-this-system.64611]
and they all happened to have shop code 128 (Taiwan) in common, makes me wonder if that could be the cause.

(The official Taiwan edition Wii is basically the variant of Japan edition that goes with J system menu, seems to be often neglected by homebrew apps. Not necessarily a problem unless region check is strict, I guess.)

I would love to get a Taiwanese Wii. They do seem to both use the J system menu, but I am more curious to see the shit they do.

I think they are either Region locked or take discs from any Region? Will have to check.

They take Taiwanese (J) discs I think. I own a Taiwanese disc but not a Taiwanese Wii. The update list system menu does let me use Japanese discs though. I think all that's different is that certain channels are removed from the Japanese update list for Taiwanese Wiis. Something has to be up that I don't know though.
