A new Nintendo Switch firmware update is available to download. System software version 20.1.5 has been pushed out to systems, and you'll never believe what's in the patch notes. This new firmware adds--you guessed it--general system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience. For now, it's not exactly certain what this update really changed under the hood, so keep an eye on the usual sources before you update your Nintendo Switch.

why do they insist on never documenting the actual fixes?

Likely to avoid giving out any hints to further exploit their systems. All of the stability updates are designed to further secure their product since no one ever sees any changes in stability and we all know it's bs.

For the end user, one of the changes, they added further fixes for backwards compatibility to enable previous broken SW1 titles to now work.

Can someone who is more capable than me not just simply do a diff of the prior and current FW version, and see what exactly got changed? I do this with github projects from time to time when comparing different forks / branches, and since we have access to FW files and keys on the switch 1, it should be possible, no? Might be interesting, might be totally trivial stuff, who knows. Seeing what exactly they're patching and updating might reveal some areas of interest.

I would do it myself, but don't have any environment set up for this kind of switch dev stuff, it's all a little over my head and I have neither the time nor the motivation to get into it, nor would I really know what I'm looking at anyways.
 
Thanks to my switch 2 I will never update my switch 1 again, I'm done updating everything or waiting for atmosphere to be updated every time nintendo decides to drop "stability fixes".
 
Hi! I just got banned on my hacked Switch. I updated to 20.1.5 on EMUMMC using Daybreak and then through Nintendo Servers on my OFW. When I tried to do a system transfer from Switch to Switch 2 I received the message: "The use of online services on this console is currently restricted by Nintendo." - Error Code: 2124-4508. Beware guys!

How? Were you blocking Nintendo servers on emuMMC and using exosphere as well? If you weren't using these, were you playing pirated games there using online services?
