As much as I love the Wii U, the game library is not that great with third party games compared to its predecessor.
For me, here are some games I wished were on Wii U. :yayu:

Mercury Hg (UTV Ignition, 2011)

gameplay of mercury hg

This puzzle-platformer involves navigating a drop of mercury throughout courses, dodging what enemies and obstacles there are. One interesting thing I've noticed is that the developer, Eiconic Games, worked on Squeeballs Party which was released two years earlier. Even its second installment of the series was on Wii with Mercury Meltdown Revolution. Overall, this game could work really well if it utilized the GamePad's motion controls similar to that of Meltdown Revolution.

Marble Blast Ultra (GarageGames, 2006)

This marble platformer could also work well with the GamePad's motion controls. The main adjective of the game is to platform through various courses while also going for a new high score each time. It was ported to Windows in 2015. One special thing about this wish is that it could be possible! OpenMBU is an open-source reverse-engineered remake of the Xbox Live Arcade release in C++. Overall, this game could use the GamePad for stuff like mapping out courses, navigating the marble, and using power-ups.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX (Bandai Namco, 2010)

This fun and colorful Pac-Man game is my favorite one of the whole franchise. It is here not for its GamePad concepts, but for the fact that a Pac-Man game (Museum) was coming to Wii U and Nintendo 3DS but got cancelled in development. It also got ported to Windows in 2013 with its Steam release. Overall, if I can't have Museum I'd love CE DX.

If you like casual games I for sure recommend these! :) Reply with what you wish was on Wii U as well.

The original Cut the Rope trilogy (CTR1, CTR Experiments, CTR: Time Travel), as well as Cut the Rope 2.

Man, i love Om Nom so much.

We had Cut the Rope: Triple Treat on the Nintendo 3DS but i wish they could also release it for the Wii U as well.

Good thing we saw a fanmade homebrew Wii U port of the first Cut the Rope game made by user MegaEgorik, though.

I would love to play Amnesia - The Dark Descent on the wii u. As for the mentioned games here: we kinda have similar games playable on the wii u (vWii).

Dark souls equals Darksiders
Mecury Hg equals Mercury Meltdown
AC New Leaf equals AC City folk
Hollow knight equals Castlevania
Marble blast equals kororinpa

But of course it would be great to have more games available on the wii u.

Sky Force Reloaded
Cheers for that one.
I'm glad we have the other entry but especially Sky Force Reloaded is one of the best Shmups of all time, seriously. I started a new savegame on my Switch 2 and played it more than Mario Kart World and Cyberpunk combined. It's just such a great game.

Back to topic:
I would have loved to have Tears of the Kingdom on it as well. And then both Zelda games should have proper Gamepad support like having the map or inventory on there all the time like it should have been from the beginning.
Not having this only for BotW to be the "exact same experience" as on the Switch was probably among Nintendo's stupidest decisions of all time.

Undertale.

Because when this game came out back in 2015, the Wii U was still on the market, yet we had to wait until 2017 to see it running on a Nintendo console (the Switch). Now that this little gem by Toby Fox is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary, why not port it to the Wii U?

But now, in 2026, it has been ported to the Wii U. Finally!

....do you not know how the wii u works?

do you think it just can't play wii games?
It can't play Wii games. That's why it needs a Wii GPU stuffed into its SoC. There's no Devolution/Nintendont equivalent for Wii U, despite the fact that it has far more power compared to the Wii than the Wii does to the GameCube.

- Streets of Rage 4
- Shinobi Art of Vengeance
- Yooka Laylee and the impossible lair

Tbh many 2D games could have been easily ported to the WiiU.
