Has anyone had any trouble on the new firmware playing Mother 3 translation patch 1.3? I've tried a couple times with two different rooms and it crashes on a black screen right after finishing naming your characters. Is this a compatibility issue or do you have to do something like patch the ROM yourself manually?

Just a reminder to report game issues through proper channels, otherwise I won't be able to fix them.
Mainly cause I can't read this thread and answer every question.
The Mother 3 issue has been reported so far: https://compat-superfw.davidgf.net/view_report/11
Feel free to report (working and non working) games in there!

I am not reporting an issue I just answered his question and gave him a quick fix

New release: https://github.com/davidgfnet/superfw/releases/tag/v0.17

Adds some new languages, some cleanups and internal stuff and fixes a few bugs (boot to BIOS was broken for instance).
It also improves the Fast ROM loading. By default it is enabled. Users having issues with their older GBA models, should try to disable it. With it disabled, it takes around 50%+ more time to load but it works much better.

Please test and report back if that fixes your issues with older models.

I actually managed to play Advance Wars 2 but it have messed up graphics. I'm trying to fix the visual bug for now. A routine on start press make game crash. Maybe related to save file/type issue but with rom edit it pass. Maybe @davidgf can add custom rom patching after all superfw current patches finished

Don't report here that what davidgf said

I noticed something when I updated to 1.7: some games started to slow down, especially Super Mario Bros. 3.
I have a good SD and a GBA SP, so I had to downgrade.

Amazing job like always. I have definitely noticed some improvement on my original GBA models, for instance, games in NES emulator no longer crash. But most of the games still won't load, have glitches or freeze. I think this might actually be caused by my models of supercard, as I own two clones from aliexpress (one with replaced SDRAM chip by me). I have heard in some cases almost all problems have been resolved, but all of those people had the original supercard cartridges. I will do anything I can to help you to fix the issues even with those carts. Just let me know what.

By the way, I had this idea stuck in my mind. Would it be theoretically possible to replace the slow SDRAM chip with faster FRAM that would not need to be overwritten each time you boot the cart?

FRAM is faster and doesn't need power to keep data save .my question is which FRAM can we use on supercard?

Good luck finding a 32MiB FRAM chip, that has the right interface. The SDRAM chip is neither a serial nor a fully parallel chip. It has a "traditional" SDRAM interface, with RAS and CAS cycles, refresh cycles, etc. You would need to reprogram the CPLD chip most likely :)

I would not mind working on improving the CPLD, but it is probably out of reach for most users (requires some hardware to reprogram the CPLD, can't be done through a "regular" update). I'm quite sure it can be massively improved.

Hi, I use pocketNES 2020-1-4 works fine but I have problem when I change the settings it doesn't save every time I load the game I need to change it back

For those wanting to play Advance wars 2, here is a working IPS patch. Note that it's not superfw fault that it wont boot but rather Supercard because even on stock fw it didn't.

Really curious about how to pull it off. Can you share more info?

Thnx
