Theorical (!) way of transferring modded save files from a hacked Switch 1 to a vanilla Switch 2

Disclaimer: Use this at your own risk! I'm not responsible if this gets you banned or if the laws in your country get you and your moms in jail. While I'm pretty sure these steps are fine, I can't guarantee it!

To those of you who are aware of what's technically doable, this guide probably goes without saying but I thought I'd mention it here anyway. I just thought of a way of transferring my savegame of Tears of the Kingdom that has the glitched non-breakable master sword to the Switch 2. But this should also work with any downloaded 100 % save or cheated PKMN shiny savegames and what not.

It's basically pretty simple. I'll break it down in short points:
  1. Take a modded Switch 1 where you are able to boot Atmosphère.
  2. Boot into a stock (aka non-CFW) clean sysNAND. By "clean" I mean you didn't use any LayeredFS mods or installed stuff with homebrew installers. In short, everything that gets you banned.
  3. Launch the games you want to transfer the saves for at least once. Needless to say the have to be legitimately (either a physical cart or a legally obtained eShop game).
  4. Keep the Switch offline (enable airplane mode or delete the WiFi connection) and reboot into the sysNAND but this time with Atmosphère.
  5. Use Checkpoint to inject your modded saves.
  6. Reboot to stock (aka not using Atmosphère).
  7. Now you're good to go. Just use the official system transfer feature to transfer everything to a vanilla Switch 2. You could even restore a NAND backup on your Switch 1 afterwards if you wanna circumvent the forced factory reset that comes with this process.
A closure note:
Obviously I can't test this guide yet. It should work from what I know about the Switch 1 and how Nintendo described the system transfer.
However I used this method in the past to transfer modded savegames from my modded emuNAND to my sysNAND. For example I did this with Diablo III and Mario Maker 2, both of which I then used online without getting banned to this day.

By the way, you could theoretically skip a few steps from above and just use Atmosphère right away without booting back and forth. Those steps are just "the safest way" of doing it and honestly I'd recommend sticking to them.

But according to Nintendo website https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/45047

Both systems must be connected to the internet, and on the latest firmware. Also saves can only be transferred for users with same nintendo account on both systems, and saves will be deleted from the source once transferred.

So I dont know how safe it would be to do this while connected to the internet with a shady emunand on s1, and using the same user and nintendo account on both systems...
I’ve been doing it for years, not a single ban as I don’t run any backed up or downloaded games. I back my gamesaves up before I transfer them so I can restore them once transferred.

Okay sh*t, that shuts down any transfers from an emuNAND to a Switch 2.

Interesting! Have you done any modified saves or the 100% saves that are shared online at all with this process? I'm wondering about transferring some of my saves over to my switch 2 that are both legit and modified all unlock saves for mario kart and smash bros

I mod my own game saves 90% of the games I play I mod to add in game currency or to unlock rare items and I’ve never had any issues, a few days ago I modded my gamesave and been using it just fine, some ice transferred to pc to edit and then transferred back to the modded switch and then to the new console. I’ve never really used any online saves, I prefer to do them myself so they have no history of being on other people’s consoles, games like dreamlight valley for the switch they keep logs in the gamesave data linking devices, usernames and other data linking them to users so that’s why I prefer to edit my own fresh gamesaves. Especially games like pokemon.

So should this work safely on my unbanned OLED?

1. Back up all save games in EmuNAND using JKSV
2. Boot into SysNAND and perform a system update to the latest version
3. Create a backup of the SysNAND via Hekate
4. Boot SysNAND with CFW and inject all save games using JKSV in applet mode
5. Boot SysNAND without CFW and transfer the save games to the Switch 2 using the transfer tool
6. Restore the original SysNAND backup via Hekate

and would you do that while having autorcm on all the time? having no burned fuses would be a problem?

and what about due to not having a nintendo account before. I have to create a completely new one, and inject dozens of saves from multiple regions to a completely new account.....from which then i transfer the saves to a switch 2. I dont know.. maybe its not worth it the risk.

The big question in my mind is regarding point 3! If a save file of a game you never bought legtimately shows up on your vanilla switch 2, can it get banned?

How can this happen? Only if you go online with your dirty Nand and upload it... Better have a clean sysnand backup and only transfer legit and owned games

Makes sense! I'll just have to purchase the game if I want to get the save on switch 2. Luckily Sword and Three houses got transferred from my OFW but Engage is the issue which I completely played on my CFW

youre safe to transfer stuff from cfw directly as long as you dont have pirated games

its safe to transfer saves if youre not running pirated stuff i setup a clean emunand for this purpose in the future
Okay then we're arguing over "terms". :D
A clean NAND is a clean NAND, no matter if sysNAND or emuNAND.
I just refer to and emuNAND as the place where hacking, custom firmware and other shenanigans are happening because that is what most people do.
Of course an emuNAND is just as fine for official stuff if it is clean.

4. -> You don't need applet mode. While it probably works, you can also use any game for runnig the HBmenu by holding R and running JKSV or Checkpoint from there.

Apart from that, that's exactly what I did. You could also do this game by game with NSO cloud transfer. This way you don't need to restore the sysNAND backup or something like that since you don't alter it on your OLED. You just upload your saves to the cloud.

You can't even restore a savegame of a game you haven't started at least once so that should be impossible anyway. At least that's the case with Checkpoint. Dunno about JKSV.

I'd argue that a clean sysNAND is the safer option. Not only pirated games are something that might get you banned. Using LayeredFS is as well.
It might work, but a clean sysNAND is the safest way.

sure people have been transferring saves for a long time from cfw without issue though

Yep, I confirmed this by trying. Unless I run the game at least once on my OFW, I can't use any homebrew software to put save files in. I do think tho, for a game like Pokemon scarlet which I already own, I could hack saves on CFW, put them on OFW and then get them on the Switch 2. However, I will not go to those lengths just to cheat on a Pokemon game and risk anything with my new console

Well, I just pulled off what I thought wasn't possible. Point 3 of OP really is not required. You can use JKSV to just create the game on OFW and then inject the backup. I just took saves of pirated games from CFW Switch 1 and put them on Switch 2 they even got backed up on cloud. Both my consoles still working fine, no bans.

+1 will update if I catch a ban later, but I straight up moved my EmuMMC game saves to my Switch 2 this way. I don't think they're checking closely.

hello is there a way to transfer my saves from a banned modded switch 1 to a "patched switch" then to a switch 2?

note i dont have emunand at all on my modded switch.
