Since the Switch 2 is basically a Tegra-powered tablet, like its predecessor, there aren't as many requirements as for other consoles like the PS3 or the first Xbox.
However, the Switch emulation skyrocketted thanks to the console being hacked, and all its internals (software and hardware) being inspected. So it will depend on when the console will be hacked in the first place. And honestly I'm tired of reading that question everywhere on facebook and reddit, since we don't even have even a single log of the operating system running or any details about the internal chips.

The console will be emulated very early but the game won't be decrypted to play anytime soon. On brightside, you can play Switch game on Switch 2 emulator for novelty.

I suppose Ryujinx and Yuzu are highly relevant to this. Ryujinx I think is open source, but I don't know who might pick up development.

I also wonder if x64 or ARM-based computers will emulate Switch 2 better. I remember the Ryujinx dev being excited about the potential of ARM Macs for Switch emulation but I don't think anything came of it.

Considering the two Switch systems aren't binary-compatible and Switch 1 games will be emulated on the Switch 2 using an abstraction layer, Switch 2 may be harder to code for, I'm not sure.

People are getting better at BGA chip removal and reballing, so removing the chip and dumping it's contents like keys will be trivial now for those with the talent.

I'm very curious what hardware hackers will achieve with Switch 2. Everyone will be fighting to be the first who will achieve something tremendous with it, and if we just will be stuck with homebrew enabler or maybe more.

I bet it won't be hacked for quite some time, unless a USB exploit gets found. USB has so many flaws, so many systems are USB exploitable now upon coldboot. 360, Wii U, PS3, PS4, etc.

the GPU is still going to be the hardest part (besides trying to emulate the Cortex-A78C CPU over the Cortex-A57 CPU) because the jump from Maxwell to Ampere in terms of it's architecture is still one of the biggest problems if someone was foolish enough to try to make a Switch 2 emulator and thinking they can do it as recklessly as S1. for reference, the Maxwell microarcheteture (from 2014) was used in GTX 700 GPUs, while Ampere microrchitecture (from 2020) was used in the RTX 30xx series, which even if you just used thier lowest end desktop forms, is still a massive jump in power and complexities if you break down the featuresets both microarchitectures have, which is also why a translation layer for S1 BC is needed simply because if you make something designed entirely around one set of hardware only, it won't work on a different set if you try to do it natively unless you do it through a translation layer.

True, but I wouldn't think it'd be overly difficult to develop a translation layer for 3000/4000/5000 series Nvidia cards, they're the same thing with a lot more cores. It's just a matter of getting at that underlying graphics processing code in the first place.

On one hand, the console's gonna be pretty popular and it will likely not be that hard to emulate considering the BC and similarity to Switch 2

On the other hand, we don't know the security of the console, and if it'll be hacked soon enough like Switch 1 or if it will take forever for a jailbreak like.... say, xbox 360. Not to mention that Nintendo seems to be more serious about striking down emulation now in the wake of Ryu and Yuzu's discontinuations

Well remember the big thing is emulation of a system can't really be started until games from the system can be ripped and decrypted. That relies on the system being hacked and I'll say right now the chances of that early on are VERY low unless Nvidia fucked up on a hardware level again. The Switch 2 appears to be using a fork of HOS which is the OS the original Switch used. And if you've been following the hacking scene you'd know that HOS is a stupidly secure OS and basically has nothing that can be exploited for kernel access. The last version of HOS to have some form of kernel exploit was 4.0.0 released in October 2017. If it wasn't for Nvidia's fuckup the Switch would likely still be only modable on those firmwares.

And that's not even getting into Nintendo is obviously going to target emulators for their current platform. Which I mean nothing wrong with that it's not like the Switch where people emulated it for higher resolutions and framerates.

Hard to say, but knowing how Nintendo acts these days, they'll likely be more active in going after Switch 2 emulators. So I doubt that Switch 2 will get decent emulators within the same short timeframe the Switch 1 emulators did.

Plus, it's a much more powerful piece of hardware with a lot less documentation to cover and likely has better security than Switch 1. Gonna potentially take a lot longer to figure things out and put things into practice.

No, if anything Switch 2 is 1 gen behind PS5/ Series S/X. No way the newest games like Indiana Jones, COD: BO6, Elden Ring, Balders Gate 3, etc would be playable on Switch 2. Its more on par with last gen- PS4/Xbox One.

Those aren't the greatest games as an example, I think it's more accurate to say that the Switch 2 will be comparable to current gen PC handhelds, which is in a murky in-between from last gen and current gen home consoles. Something like Monster Hunter Wilds I don't see running on the Switch 2
