I don't care for the idea of exempting line speeds limitations from those who opt-in since that will increase the likelihood of introducing shortcuts, but again, recalls are very costly to producers. There is still a financial incentive for producers to obey food safety regulation.
His plan is to handicap the FDA so that recalls won't be issued regardless of how many people get sick or die. They don't even want people having access to information about which products or brands are being investigated. A bird flu outbreak is practically inevitable in the next four years as a result.

I'm not American, but I'm terrified of how Trump's actions will affect the rest of the world. His actions have already contributed to the deaths over the Potomac, will wreck the US economy, and will end lives both in the US and abroad. This includes Palestinians in Gaza, refugees/undocumented migrants on the Mexico order as well as trans people worldwide (his illegal executive orders will only worsen the internal trans refugee crisis the US trans community faces, and will spill over into other countries as right-wing governments worldwide will copy it. the UK already did it before the USA, just quietly).

At least the Deepseek AI mess is hilarious. Not to mention the president of Honduras threatening to close the US military bases there a a result of Trump's threats. Frankly, if Trump's ineptitude leads to the US collapsing as a world power with a smaller military reach, humanity will be better off.

Thank you for the link listing food safety regulatory policy that has been repealed by the current administration. I will review it once I have time to review the link you provided.

I posit that these "temporary" pauses will end up being not so temporary. And nothing Trump does is for the purpose of "efficiency," his first term broke spending records. The money just goes into the pockets of billionaires instead of being spent on vital regulatory agencies.

How about not joining in the chorus of excuses and deflection? There will be more than enough cultists to do that at every opportunity over the next four years. For military fuck-ups on US soil, the buck passes through the secretary of defense and then stops at the president's desk, period. Incompetence got those people killed, and incompetence is the only thing that Trump specializes in.
How about you stop having shitty opinions on topics you have at best superficial knowledge of. I'd leave that one to the republicans in the room.

The entire reason I am frustrated with this thread and this moderation is that the right wing has argued purely on the basis of how they feel and what random propagandists have hammered into them. There really is zero need to stoop to their level, it's not even a rhetorical advantage. This is not a case of "they go low, we go high", there's plenty of attack surface on Trump politicizing a longstanding bipartisan issue with DEI without the asinine assertion that 2 weeks in office can make three military pilots idiots and an ATC controller (who were already understaffed and working too many sectors on average the past few years, all the way to the first Trump presidency) overworked.

I mean, fuck, we almost had Tenerife but so much worse with 1000 lives on the line in 2017.

Correct, I've never played by that stupid rule. When they go low, I kick their teeth out. It'd be one thing if I blamed Trump every time I stubbed my toe, but it's entirely another when he can be linked to a problem from multiple angles. After killing a million Americans with his botched COVID response, he doesn't get any more leeway, and nor do his supporters.

I do question these pauses in public communications, however, this is not an outright repeal of regulation. Is this really the source that led you to the following claim?

The repeal of food safety regulations, for example, is going to end up killing thousands, if not tens of thousands

This is the claim that I am challenging. The reason that I am challenging it is that I cannot find a source to substantiate it. I am also somewhat familiar with FSQA regulation, specifically, USDA FSIS in RTE meat packing, which is another motivating factor to my challenging your claim.

I'm simply making a prediction in this instance based on existing statements/actions taken. Trump has already demonstrated that he's extremely short-sighted, does not believe in early preparation, and is willing to take any number of risks with American lives. The response to a bird flu pandemic would come too late if it comes at all.

That is a bit frustrating. Please state such from the onset so that others do not waste their time trying to verify your predictions expressed as verifiable claim.

I mean this isn't exactly rocket science, more like connect the dots. It's easy to see the patterns repeat themselves after a while, and I must've correctly predicted at least 75% of the shit that went down in his first term. Your request is fair enough though, and I'll try to make the distinction clearer from now on.

My take is that speculation about the cause at this stage is just that, speculation. The claim that DEI woke whatever caused the crash is an incredibly dumb bit of speculation, but even more reasonable guesses are still guesses.

Trumps actions leading up to this were also dumb and will likely cause problems in the future, to put it mildly. Even if a fully staffed and funded flight authority couldn't have prevented the crash, it would still be nice to have one, you know? For the preventable ones?

Exactly, that at least would've given him plausible deniability. Instead he's been scrambling to find a new scapegoat every five minutes because he knows damn well he does bear responsibility, which is something he's allergic to.

I hope we'll see a spotlight on military exercising their special privileges that potentially undermine safety only when absolutely necessary. Controller shortage and cuts to resources that could address these issues is indeed just going to make everything worse under Trump, but these cuts will take more than 2 weeks to manifest.

I'm more worried about him "touching the third rail of politics" (gutting SSI, medicare etc) is it his plan to kill off the disabled? i get some American Mentality rather see us dead (the disabled) but if a person in power can actually do it not conspicutivly he is a true danger

Here are some mostly objective quotes from the cited article for those who may only read headlines and non-informative, outrage bait tweets:
Donald Trump rammed through new Title IX rules for federally funded K-12 schools and colleges Friday...

The new policy, announced on Friday, resuscitates the Title IX policy changes Trump implemented in 2018 during his first term. It reduces the liability placed on schools in sexual misconduct cases. It also requires live hearings and cross-examinations, and allows lawyers to be present at those hearings.

The Biden administration extended sex discrimination protections under Title IX to include sexual orientation and gender identity.

Trump informed educational institutions that his administration would no longer enforce those protections. This followed a Kentucky judge’s decision in January that ruled Biden-era trans protections unconstitutional.

Also note that most of the article headlines when quarrying "Donald Trump Title IX changes" in a search engine contain the key terms, "revive," "reverse," "reversal." A survey of multiple article headlines seems to indicate that the most recent changes to Title IX undo changes implemented during Joe Biden's administration.

Here is an article that reviews the pre-Biden administration Title IX changes implemented during Donald Trump's first term:

Well, for anyone that wants to try....

Go to google's main page where when you can get suggestions based on what you start to type.
Type "Impeach "
Next try adding Obama, or Biden, Clinton, anyone except for you-know-who. Got suggestions? Alright.
Now, have "Impeach " in the box, and start typing the specific person's first or last name.
Do you see suggestions, or did it blank it out?

Surprised?

Try with Bing. I didn't even have to go any further than "imp" to get a suggestion specifically for you-know-who.

the reason for this is the neutrality bias in big tech to avoid attracting heat so they can continue fleecing everyone for their data and cash
a neutrality bias will always favor the right because it's not fact-based
right-wingers found this out the hard way in early ai language models because they regurgitated the most established and sourced factual information, and you had videos of people trying to get the model to recommend they vote for trump for example, and the model would tell them that wasn't in their best interest
