What I don't understand is why Trump wants to go after the EV push. Isn't he close buddies with Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and producer of Electric Vehicles?

He likes oil and gas, so he's going to try and keep fossil fuels alive at whatever cost
That being said I'm fine with this- Biden's approach of pushing EVs instead of finding newer, more sustainable fuels for ICE didn't appeal to me much as a car enthusiast. California especially took it too far pushing for an all EV mandate by 2030.

If I were president I'd sooner redesign America moreso around trains than cars to really curb the climate problem- manufacturing of any new car, EV or ICE, is still environmentally harmful at the end of the day, so if we wanted to work on that we'd simply just make it less necessary to own one. Leave it to the enthusiasts and people who enjoy the usage of cars to own one instead of forcing it upon everybody with long and large roads that prevent a walking person from getting anywhere
