Rumor Possible 5090 Specs Leaked

Well known leaker kopite7kimi has posted possible specs for Nvidia's upcoming flagship next generation graphics card.

If true, this card will be an absolute beast and a much larger upgrade over the current 4090 than expected.

The notable figures here are the crazy 32GB of VRAM over a 512bit bus.. and the whopping 600W of peak power (surely it won't actually be that high?)

No word yet on when Nvidia is going to announce or release the 5000 series cards with rumours being anywhere from next month to early next year.

Place your bets on the MSRP..

The current 4090 started at $1599, so I'm going with $1899 for the 5090.

It's a lot more powerful than the 4090 so obviously it needs to draw more power.

This might mean that the 6000 series is the one to go for as they usually alternate between big performance gains for big power and small performance gains for more efficiency.

I rather not pay for a whole months extra electricity just for a silly GPU, then again I wouldn't go for a 5090 either way but still... they need to start optimizing these things

All depends if AMD is actually competitive or just follows Nvidia's greedy model. They already gave up at the high end so hopefully they at least push Nvidia to provide decent specs for 60/70 class cards.

600W is not that crazy. The rumors are that the 4090 was specced for a 600W cooler, which is why it's so big, and that's the cap of the 12vhpwr connector. I don't think it will go all the way there just now, probably slightly below that so they can remain in a similar cooler size and single power connector territory for years to come, but I'm very glad they bumped VRAM, as that's the most important upgrade for me. I can't wait to pull the trigger on one.

The msrp could be as high as $2500. That's a crazy amount to spend on a gpu no matter what.

Might be unpopular opinion, but I don't care what the x90 costs. The x90 is supposed to be a Halo product for those that want the best no matter the cost.

It's the stuff below that is the problem, massive increases in price, 3080FE $699, 4080FE $1200 . That's not inflation, cost of materials on any other excuse (especially when the 3090->4090 was only a $100 bump, is that immune to all the supposed reasons for the bump everywhere else?), it's just the result of no proper competition and trying to upsell people to the x90 card.

I hope the prices are better, I doubt it, but "super" variants are normally the result of stuff not selling as well as hoped. There were multiple reports of 40 series sitting on shelves (with the exception of the 4090) when they first released as well.

That's before you get into the bs of stuff arguably being shoved up a tier (x50 being sold as x60), although if speculation is true, we are going to have another "x60" 128bit 8GB card in the "5060".

With the AI train in full force though, Nvidia doesn't have to care about the gpu market anymore though. No competition at all though, so take it or leave it.

AMD have just given up, no high end for RDNA4 and for current gen, despite at best only matching Nvidia at rasterization, while having less features, prices are just as bad (and also arguably moved stuff up a tier).

At least with Zen, AMD priced it right. Prices never rose until zen 3 when they were on top of everything. GPUs AMD seem to happy to just hold on to their 10%.

Hopefully it's faster than 7000X3D series. So far, AMD has dropped the ball with trying to improve upon these chips, especially 7800X3D. Selling 9000 series by comparing it to 5800X3D was laughable, especially considering the high cost of AM5 boards.
