I did have this experience. I tried to run a lightweight Linux distro on my gaming PC. It was such an ordeal that I just switched to Windows 10 and called it.

I've done plenty of Windows and Linux OS installs and I can say that when Linux works, it works. When it doesn't, it will fight you every step of the way, forcing a Windows install.

I know this was posted ages ago, but I still identify with this. This has happened to me in conversation, and I couldn't tell if it was a troll or a spontaneous lapse. I feel NotBob's frustration.
