I have Lapy's x264 Media Player installed, but it only recognizes some/specific x264 video files while others are unplayable/unrecognizable. Even stuff like old DVDRips. 😕

I usually would use an Android TV Box to play media files though I don't have one right now and pity the PS4 doesn't have a media player capable of playing most video formats/codecs. Hope someone makes it happen.

Thanks.

Have you tried this one https://github.com/Cpasjuste/pplay/releases

I didn't try any x264 vids but almost all the videos I tried worked

Edit: So I saw your post on the release thread and you only said you'd try it. Did you ever have the chance?
That is more compatible with more videos, it just doesn't have a good UI. It'll make do.

Tested x265 videos on PPlay and plays without problems. I'm pretty happy it does the job as it should.

I'd much rather use the official media player app although I can never get that to play anything (not sure if I do something wrong but oh well).

Look for @CyB1K version 4.01

This works fine for me.
Since it's a free app on p#n shouldn't be a problem posting the link.

Tried that again.

It either says "Cannot play this file." or it keeps loading eternally whereas PPlay loads it instantly.

I'd say PPlay is essential for hacked PS4s if its users want to watch movies/shows via USB.

Homebrew support for the PS4 itself is rare, as they all seemed dryed up. The userbase with a Jailbroken PS4 is very miniscule compared to other older systems
