"Fallout: London" free fanmade Fallout 4 DLC-sized mod officially releases on GOG

Fallout has been a franchise that's always been deeply rooted in modding throughout the years since its inception. Lately, projects like "Project Arroyo" are pushing the boundaries of what is possible within Fallout 4's engine and its modding scene.

Today, the modding scene for Fallout 4 has reached a major milestone, with the now official release on GOG.com of a fanmade DLD-sized mod for Fallout 4, titled "Fallout: London". The DLC mod has been years in the making, and with the help of GOG, the development team managed to get a proper release for the mod over at the GOG.com website.

The mod itself breaks free of the usual American setting for the Fallout series, and instead focuses on overseas territories, with the main focus being London in the post-apocalyptic setting players of the franchise are familiar with. The amount of new features and additions that the mod brings are as follows:
  • 200 Quests to change London’s future
  • 20 Factions bickering for power
  • 7 Companions to bring along on your journey
  • 15 Boroughs crafted from the ground up, bringing you a new warped and broken London
  • Extended Dialogue System to bring player-choices to the table, carve your own story!
  • Overhauled Original Soundtrack to bring personality to each nook and cranny
  • Original Voice Acting from all major characters, gangs, and factions
  • Build back better with 7 unique settlements
  • New craftable items with a plethora of new weapons
  • Dynamic new animations to bring life
Fallout London description said:
Fallout: London lets you explore a dishevelled London set in the Fallout universe. It overhauls Fallout 4 with a new story, new weapons, London-centric items and a vast recreation of the ruined city to explore.

Fallout: London is a free total conversion mod for Fallout 4, available to anyone who owns the base game and all of its DLCs. It is developed non-commercially by Team FOLON, many of whom are proud London residents or expats.

To install Fallout London, the player will be required to own an official copy of Fallout 4 Game of the Year Edition in either Steam or GOG. The Steam version requires some steps to be able to properly install, but if the user owns Fallout4 GOTY Edition on GOG and redeem Fallout London, the mod will be installed through the GOG Galaxy launcher automatically.

Fallout London requires Fallout 4. Unfortunately, I do not have the game on GOG. The steam version has what's called the "next gen update", which means it's not compatible with Fallout London, you'll have to download an older version (1.10.163.0) from steam. You can do this manually using steam console commands, or you can use a tool specifically designed for this.

You need to own the following content:
  • Fallout 4
  • Automatron
  • Far Harbor
  • Nuka World
  • Wasteland Workshop
  • Contraptions Workshop
  • Vault-Tec Workshop
Easy Method:
Download the Fallout London Downgrader from Nexusmods, and follow it's instructions (requires providing your steam credentials, though).

Manual Method:
1. Access
Code:
steam://open/console
in a browser or via the windows run dialog (Win + R)
2. Download the depots for the right version by entering the following commands in the steam console:

Content will be downloaded to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_377160" into separate folders, you'll need to merge the contents of these folders into a single folder ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4")
3. Disable automatic updates by marking the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\appmanifest_377160” as read only
4. Install Fallout London

I can't personally test it, because I only own the Base game of Fallout 4, not the required DLC/GOTY content.

Has anyone who owns the Steam version of Fallout 4 figured out how to merge the FO London expansion w/ their game installation?

I installed it with the offline installer and it just corrupted every file in my Fallout 4 game folder, made every file 0kb.
I was reading from a different forum which said to
run [the] GOG installer and target it in another folder (not [the] game folder) [or]
else you will have "files with ZERO size after installation..."
That's if you're using the offline installer from GOG in order to merge it w/ a Steam game installation.
