Hey, I've been playing games offline without issue, but I wanted to ask about updating games if I come across bugs. There is mention of inserting the mig, removing it and then updating the game, does this work, any bans from this? I don't really care if I cop a ban but rather avoid it
There's a high chance of getting banned with the MIG Switch if you're using publicly available dumps or mixed dumps (e.g. XCI and Initial data files from the Internet and the rest of the cert files from a donor cart that you've bought new and dumped). However, if you're using a full dumps of the carts you own and you're 100% sure they weren't dumped in the past and are publicly available, there shouldn't be a problem.

Based on what I've gathered in this thread, it's fine if you form a group with some other people that own multiple cartridges and share your cartridges between each other as long as you make sure that two or more are playing the same game at the same time (not sure if you can play the same game at the same time offline, though, as I'm not sure what's logged on the consoles). This is probably the only way other than dumping your own cartridges to stay safe and avoid getting banned. At least, for now, unless Nintendo decides to push a firmware update with MIG Switch (and alike) detection in place, provided that's possible.

Note that, even if you get banned, you can still update the firmware on your console the official way. eShop and online stuff is out of the question. As for the updates, there's a workaround with updating games by matching the version of the game on another console via local network. DLCs are, unfortunately, only available if they are already available in cartridges you own or have dumps of on your MIG Switch.

I hope that answers your question. If you aren't using online services at all, even if you get banned you aren't missing out much.

The point is if you use the device as not intended dragons will fly.

If you use the device as intended ninjas have no way to know.

I’m honestly surprised there aren’t more people just forming groups and sharing games with each other to make private dumps that way

Than again the switch community is toxic and everyone leaks everything so that’s prob a huge part of why it hasn’t happened

It seems that new MIG Switch website is down as well. Anyone knows what's going on this time around?
Saw on the Russian forum the information, that they changed their name and the new website is „migflash“ and then com at the end (I‘m a new user, so I can‘t post links)

Not sure if it‘s actually them or not

It looks legit to me, if you mean this one that I assume is hinted at in this picture:

That's what happens if you register .com domains which are in control of the country who invented the DMCA.
They was not DMCAed, but they was stripedout of the name, because seems you can't heve «switch» on your domain. Seems again like the abuse to Mike Rowe Soft from Microsoft and also windows commander

Ngl I wish they’d stop playing domain tag and fix their dang dumper

It’s still unusable on M3 Macs since it ejects itself at rhe end for some stupid reason

Using windows parallels you can at least save the dump since windows shows an error message and a try again button which lets the dump complete

But still surely they can do something firmware wise.

I’ve had this issue on my M1 Mac with some dumps. Doing files one at a time sometimes succeeds. I’ve tested problem dumps on the MiG after doing that and they’ve worked.

They work for me too but it’s annoying having to wait and watch it ha

Sometimes the XCIs turn into folders too which is a bit weird. But only on my end if I compress rhe folder and send it to a buddy it’s perfectly fine for him

I went to copy yoshi crafted world and popped it out to check which game I just inserted. when i put it back in the dumper, it could not be read. I then put it in my switch to make sure and got the same results. My game cart now seems to be corrupted because of the dumper on 1.1.4. Has anyone else had this issue?

These game cards are read only so can't be corrupted by software, try rebooting your switch and reinsert your card into your switch.

Cartdriges are ROM, so you can not damage reading them, try cleaning the contacts, and if got damaged ask for warranty.

While a button would be nice I don’t really think that will be an issue unless you’re purposely pushing the game card down as hard as you can or aren’t careful with your devices

It’s such a soft click
Would it just be possible to adjust the FW to allow for users to simply select there game?

Yeah tried that first. Ill grab my kids switch and try on theirs. I was able to copy other games just fine. I am aware thats the cart is not modifiable but the game being read only does not make it exempt from corruption.

I'm just worried that it may have corrupted the game because I ejected it with it plugged in and powered. But then again that's what is done when it's inserted into the switch. So 🤷‍♂️.

Yeah I'm aware it's ROM but like I said to the other person, just because it is ROM does that mean it's exempt from corruption/ death. I hope there is not a wonky pin in my dumper that puts the games at risk or a way to insert at an angle that may bridge a connection. I'll need to open that up and check it out.
